The Republic of United Islam is better known by its semi-official name, the United Islamic Republic, or UIR for short. The UIR has a long history, going back all the way to 817 on the Gregorian calendar. In 817, the first Emperor Kirel, of the Zasz family, was exiled from the town of Zalabiya after spreading rumors contrary to government statements. The day he was exiled with his family and supporters began the Kirelian calendar. This year constitutes year 0, and begins the thousand-year-dynasty of the Zasz family. The family retained Zalabiyan culture, however. The names of all Emperors after Kirel are assumed, and come directly from an ancient scripture listing names of Zalabiyan citizens. The flight from Zalabiya is referred to as the Relhost, or journey. Five years into the Hafira, the exiles reached the shoreline of what is now known as the Bay of Kirel. On a hilltop overlooking the bay, the city of Tebezza was founded. On the birthday of Kirel, celebrated on March 4th of the Gregorian calendar, Kirel proclaimed himself Emperor of Tebezza. He established a set of guidelines for revering the Emperors, known as Emperor-worship.

Later Emperors expanded the military prowess of Tebezza, to the point of conquering the former home of the 1st Emperor Kirel, Zalabiya. The culture that Kirel held beloved was the death of the 7th Emperor Relek, who was assassinated on the one-year anniversary of his coronation by pro-Zalabiyan rebels. These rebels were exiled from Tebezza by the 8th Emperor Ullhass, who showed extraordinary political power even as a child. The rebels formed the village of Qasr Saqra. The cultural problem was solved 60 years later by the 10th Emperor Zolraag, who formed the official Tebezzan culture, which now pervades throughout the city, stifling all other cultures or absorbing them into the greater Tebezza. The power of Tebezza began to expand first with the 13th Emperor Ristin, who organized military forces into effective groups. The 16th Emperor Atvar utilized this organization and conquered the cities of Zalabiya and Qasr Saqra, both cities hostile to the newly-formed Empire of Tebezza. After military conquest, the 18th Emperor Horrep allowed the city of al-Hafira into the Empire after the city was witness to a plague and needed a caretaker. The Empire was certainly the needed caretaker. However, the plague spread to Tebezza, where it killed the 18th Emperor Horrep and the next 3 Emperors, ulimately bringing a series of corrupt Emperors to the throne. Despite the corruption, the Empire was still following Emperor-worship, and therefore loyal the the Emperor. The 25th Emperor Votal conquered Antamar, whilst the 27th Emperor Gnik defended his throne from foreign invaders who had founded a fort northeast of Tebezza. The fort, named Fort Foureau, was part of a deal by the 36th Emperor Yower, who bartered to recieve the deed the Fort Foureau 200 years after the signing of the pact.

The 33rd Emperor Szilard made great strides in the field of war, conquering the three cities of Qal'at al-Hisn, al-Qurayyat, and Tall Harin. Unfortunately, the next Emperor, the 34th Emperor Lejb, lost the city of Antamar to resistance forces who had not become fully incorporated into the Empire. Regardless, Antamar was unbound to Tebezza until the 39th Emperor Sohrheb, who reconquered the city after it claimed to be more powerful than the Empire. More recent history is that of the 51st Emperor Strukss, who incorporated the isolated city of Adrar into the Empire. Strukss is the late father of the current Emperor, the 52nd Emperor Ramzy. During his five-month reign, he has renamed the Empire into the United Islamic Republic, making Islam the national religion. This mas the benefit of making the people more religiously aware of the world situation and the problem of making the people less in tune with the spirits of Emperors past. The son of Ramzy, Poropss, is set as the Crown Prince of the UIR.
