Not long ago, by the reckoning of those who tell tales of ancient days, a band of refugees fled across the Archimal Archipelago, and happened to find, on the largest island and farthest to the east, a hospitable land rich in metal and stone quarries. This was, though they could not know it, the ruins of a far more ancient Civilization. Woodtopia. These people created a home there, among the spirits of the old, a liberal society bound by stringently protected freedoms. The only administrator was the dictator being elected every generation, the Veatch. Once the Veatch Drama Geeks (as they called themselves) had reached a certain level of sophistication, they opened diplomatic relations with the other nations of Moperville.
