The Democratic Republic of Very small island is a huge, economically powerful nation, remarkable for its punitive income tax rates. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 729 million have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Education, and Social Welfare. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 54%. A large private sector is dominated by the Information Technology industry.

TV shows must meet strict ethnicity quotas, space research funding has hit a recent high while several military bases are being closed down, police officers are seen patrolling the streets armed with satellite-guided truncheons, and all streets are privately owned toll roads. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is a problem, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. Very small island's national animal is the horse, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the force.

History

Since Very Small Island was founded it has been involved in a few international incidents. Firstly a VSI backed terror group launched attacks against Hataria which resulted in VSI being invaded by a Hatarian led coalition. The country was then taken over be these countries for a short time before it was feed by another groups of nations. Today it no longer exists, and is territory of the nations of Willink, Spizania, and Parthia

Geography

Very Small Island Is a mostly circular Island with a diameter of roughly 160 miles but in the south levy’s have been used to reclaim around 4-5 miles.

The south consists mainly of grasslands and small forests. 70% of the Land in the South is used for farming, with only 10% consisting of Urban areas. This area was devastated by Parthian bombing when the Parthians attempted to starve the people of Very Small Island. The Castle City is located here.

The east is a very mountainous region where the countries mining industry is based. There are deposits of Gold, Tin, Iron, Diamonds, palladium and copper. The major city in the east is Arrana which contains the largest port in Very Small Island. This has been the center for the fishing industry and the merchant fleet since Row was lost to Aust. Many small towns have sprung up in the foot hills of the Easter mountain range and these people now provide the work force for the mines.

The north is a highly urbanized area containing The cities Island City and the major ports as well as dozens of smaller towns. The river castle runs from the north coast to the city of Castle , The river contains the largest Dam in the country witch provides much of the power to castle. Outside the cities the road and rail networks have been rebuilt since the war. A Parthian military base is also located on the north coast, but was destroyed during the second battle for VSI, and is now deep within SW territory.

The west is full of small forests and small hills as well and over 150 wind farms and wave based power stations. Nove City is located on the north West Coast and full of immigrants from all over the world. These people provide a cheap source of labor for the multi nation companies in the country. Nove City turns out cheap goods witch are exported all over the world. The city Row in the South is under the control of Aust. Austarians are thought of as brutal people throughout very Small Island and few Islanders venture into this area.

Politics

Since the country was freed Very Small has reformed its political system and now holds free elections. The country is split into four Regions witch each elect a regional government. There are also 120 elected officials elected to the central government and a president is elected as the head of state. The results for the first election were as follows:

Central government: Miles Nove the United party representative was elected as president

government seats: united party: 64 seats 53.5% National party:37 seats 30.8% Green party:8 seats 6.6% VSI socialist party:8 seats 6.6% Eastern alliance:3 seats 2.5%

Provincial government:

North, East and west regions were all won by the United Party South region was won by the National Party.

The Regions are administered by the wining Party. The central government was made up by many parties. Although the United Party won the election the constitution states that a party wining over 20% of the vote can elect and vice president and additional four 4 ministers, Each party gaining over 5% of the vote was also given one post in the government.

The United party is a central Liberal party witch gains most of its support from the People in the Urban areas of the north and east.

The national Party is a more right wing conservative party witch wins support from the farming communities in the South and some of the mining towns in the east.

The socialist Party gains its support from the immigrant comminutes

and the rest of the west, as does the Green party.
 

The eastern alliance is a far right party made up of people who supported the old regime.

Security

The large well funded state police and Regional security forces as well as social welfare programs ensure a low crime rate. The only region where there is trouble is the far north east, where the die hard supporters of the old regime fight the new security forces.

A shadowy organization called Group 9 protects VSI interests abroad as well as some crimes and terrorist groups, there methods however are unorthodox. They are thought to have killed 300 civilians in the north east when attempting to destroy a terrorist cell. The government continues to deny the existence of this group.

Economy

Very Small Island has made an amazing economic recovery. Natural gas has been found off the south coast and more and more precious metals are being found in the east, along with a cheap immigrant work force the natural deposits of metal have meant the VSI is fast becoming an economic power house.

Military

The Very Small Island military has also been reformed since the wars. The military is based on mobility.

Army

The army consists of 300'000 full time soldiers and 1’250'000 territorial army soldiers. The army consists of 3 Departments. One is the Home Guard witch defends the Country at all time, 250'000 of the territorial army are also part of the home guard and 100'000 are in service at all times.

The second division Makes up Away force that is used for foreign ventures and international action.

The third corps provides support for the other two groups as well as providing humanitarian aid. The armies main battle tank is the challenger II. The army uses Warrior and RATEL fighting vehicles. As well as Chinook and hind helicopters as well ad land rovers and other supply vehicles. 155mm artillery is used by the army as well as some heavier and lighter guns

Air Force

The Airforce consist of the Air Defense regiment and the Air corp. The Defense regiment contains 3000 men and defends air files at home and abroad. The airforce has 400 dragonfly fighters ,100 Goliath bombers and 70 Juggernaut bombers, 75 Navy VOLTS and 60 Giant transports. These aircraft are spread throughout the country.

Navy

The Navy is mostly based at Nove city in the north but some ships are stationed in other areas. The navy consists of the following
