Formerly the Kingdom of Wailele Island, this island nation is now a protectorate of the Principality of Ausserland. Wailele Island retains complete autonomy over its internal affairs under this arrangement. The Principality has assumed responsibility for defense of the island and all conduct of foreign relations.
Wailele Island is located some 260 miles off the western coast of the Continent, opposite the Cheffran Peninsula. It has an area of 727 sq mi (1883 sq km). The island has a remarkably stable tropical climate with highs around 29 °C (80 to 85 °F) and lows around 20 °C (65 to 70 °F). 78% of its people are Dwarves, 17% are members of the race known as the Pilikua Giants, and 5% members of other races. The economy of Wailele Island has traditionally been primarily agricultural, however, there is a significant "cottage" industry which produces fine furniture and woodcrafts, along with rapidly growing information technology and tourism sectors. Wailele Island has an exceptionally rich culture, historically focused on music, dance, and oral history. Common is spoken by 100% of the population, with 86% also fluent in the Wailele language. The island is divided into four provinces: Hikina, Waena, Muliwai and Komohana. The capital is at Kuahiwi City.
