The War of 1933 is perhaps the most infamous conflict Czardas has ever been involved in. The nation of Banduria, seeking revenge against Czardas for defeating one of its allies, brought a huge army by sea to Czardas, utterly destroying the port city of Khelt (where Palma stands today) and weaking Czardas by destroying its navy. Eventually, after months of unequal combat, Czardas succeeded in driving the Bandurians back to the shore and made a peace treaty to prevent utter destruction. However, the terms of this treaty included that Czardas could not trade with other nations for another 60 years -- until 1993. Otherwise the Bandurians would claim the northern half of the coastal plain. Afraid to lose most of their resources, the Czardaians accepted.

This devastating treaty caused Czardas's economy to implode, a depression from which it has not yet fully recovered. In addition, its navy has never fully been rebuilt. However, people hope that Czardas shall eventually recover fully from the effects of sixty years of isolation and return in full capacity to the international community.
