The Empire of Zarquon Froods is a large, environmentally stunning nation, renowned for its strong anti-business politics. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 40 million are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, Defence, and the Environment. The average income tax rate is 92%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising fourteen-year-old boys selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Jails have become colloquially known as 'vampire houses', several citizens have complained about scientists abducting their pets for experimentation, elected officials often serve for decades in a single term, and inheritance tax has recently been abolished. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown. Zarquon Froods's national animal is the Ravenous Blatter Beast, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Liffer.
