The Armed Republic of Oilersburg is a massive, economically powerful nation, remarkable for its compulsory military service. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 5.477 billion are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."
It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, moralistic government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defence, and Public Transport. The average income tax rate is 100%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Beef-Based Agriculture industry, followed by Uranium Mining and Information Technology.
The government seizes the property of the recently deceased, citizens are permitted to carry concealed handguns, movies and computer games are strictly censored for violence, and children have taken to using semaphore in light of the recent mobile phone ban. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Oilersburg's national animal is the Llama, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the hockey card.
Oilersburg Civil War
Shortly after the founding of Oilersburg, they suffered a horrible Civil War. In, A Wysterian History, 2004: Part IV, Calamity and Diplomacy, by The Bruce, It is writen of the Oilersburg Civil War.
"After arriving in Wysteria, Oilersburg suffered a civil and was invaded by Hockey Falls, and the defender's colossal battle tanks were discovered to be less than effective. With the aid of a number of nations, including the Grendels, Oilersburg was able to drive the invaders out. Oilersburg then started throwing their weight around, threatening the defenceless nation of Righteous Lefties. In their defence, the Righteous Lefties mobilized divisions of geisha girls to distract and delay the invaders. Oilersburg immediately backed off from their plans of conquest when a number of other nations, especially Strong Bad, came to the rescue of Righteous Lefties."
