The Burnsian Desert was formed during the Iranian (Then Persia) occupation of India (1648-1847). In 1702, British expatriot Orville Burns created the "Burnsian Seccession Organisation", whose goal was to create a soverign state made up of Arabs, Indians and Britons in South India. After several bloody years of civil war, the Persian government agreed to cede a small polyp of Indian coastline to the BSO. Since this land was so barren and inhospitable (it was located on the tip of today's Al-Samarra Peninsula), the local news outlets coined it "The Burnsian Desert". Now referred to as King, Orville ratified the name in the Burnsian Charter, some say as a joke. Nevertheless, as time went on, conquest by an increasingly powerful BSO expanded the borders and formed what is now known, modernly, as The Burnsian Desert. TBD is run by an autocratic ruler who changes frequently due to political and military infighting. The leader with the record for the longest term is President-General Mitchell C. Craig.

Government

The Burnsian Charter

The Burnsian Charter was penned the day after the Iranian government recognized the BSO's bid for secession. It was written personally by Orville Burns. Convieniently, it was destroyed the next day when Orville was cooking breakfast. However, the Burnsian Charter has been traditionally interpreted as affording these guidelines to the populace.

  • Henceforth, this nation is to be called The Burnsian Desert
  • In political circles, if you kill a rival, you will inherit his position
  • Every citizen has the right to a trial when accused of a crime
  • When a citizen of the Burnsian Desert is accused of a crime, the burden of proof lies on the state
  • The President-General is the final authority in every matter concerning the country

Unorganized, yes, but effective nonetheless.

Organization

The President-General (or King, or Queen) is the highest authority in the Judicial, Executive and Economic branches of government. He is advised by seven Scholars, two from the Judicial and Economic branches, and three from the Executive. A representative from each Region of TBD (West Peninsula, East Peninsula, West Mountain, Mountain, Central Desert, and the Islandry) informs the leader of the needs and wants of the people. It is up to the leaders discretion if he wants to appease the populace or not.

Military

The Burnsian Military is headed up by one High General, who administrates the entire Military. Under him are two Grand Generals, who control the Land Department of the Burnsian Military and the Sea Department of the Burnsian Military.

The Land Department

The Land Department is composed of some 145,575,000 men and women. Half of them (72,787,500) of them are active combat duty; the other half are administrative and logisitics. The Land Department controls the offices of the Army, the Artillery, the Burnsian Intelligence Agency, the Police, the Wardogs, the Air Force, and the Citizens' Guard.
