The Republic of Walther Realized is a huge, socially progressive nation, remarkable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 802 million enjoy great individual freedoms in everything except elections, which, where they exist at all, are populist shams for a dictatorship government that has no intention of ever giving up power.
It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, pro-business government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Defence, although Commerce and Law & Order are on the agenda. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 34%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Information Technology industry, followed by Uranium Mining and Arms Manufacturing.
The country is preparing for war, the children of Walther Realized are often remarked upon for their cheery attitude to extreme violence, the country has been 'going shopping' by annexing nearby nations for their resources, and murder rates are on the rise as the popularity of soylent products grows. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is pervasive. Walther Realized's national animal is the puffin, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the credit.
The nation of Walther Realized was formerly the nation of Walther Atkinson.
