Its hard-nosed, intelligent population of 5 million are free to succeed or fail in life on their own merits; the successful tend to enjoy an opulent (but moralistic) lifestyle, while the failures can be seen crowding out most jails and are prohibited from doing almost everything except voting, which they do timidly and conservatively and the majority of the populace regularly votes to increase its benefits at the expense of various hapless minorities. Universities meanwhile tend to be full of students debating the merits of various civil and political rights, while businesses are tightly regulated and the wealthy viewed with suspicion.

Pirates who were fleeing from the Romans founded the TAJ Imperium in the early 1st Century. After several years of pirate rule, the pursuing Romans arrived and conquered the local populace and then enslaved them. In AD47, the locals rebelled. The 3-month War ended in a Peace Treaty.

The Imperial Ruling Party is the ruling party in Syayrien Union. It is led by Count St. Simone. Members are either former members of the military or aristrocrats. It has 1,300 seats in Government. The party has ruled the country for the past 12 years and it has a 60% share and total control of FutureTech Industries and its subsidary Gineer Fleet Systems.
