Overview
The Allied States of Yurgimyi is a very large, pleasant nation, renowned for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its compassionate population of 62 million are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.
The enormous, socially-minded government juggles the competing demands of Commerce, Healthcare, and Social Welfare. The average income tax rate is 38%, but much higher for the wealthy. A substantial private sector is led by the Automobile Manufacturing industry, followed by Beef-Based Agriculture and Basket Weaving.
The tenet of free speech is held dear, gambling is outlawed, skateparks can be found in every city, and the Supreme Court vehemently protects civil rights and the right to privacy. Crime is relatively low. Yurgimyi's national animal is the tortoise, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the parunda.
Yurgimyi is ranked 5th in the region and 55,189th in the world for Largest Publishing Industry.
