The main striking force of the Community Defence Forces of Sober Thought is provided by armoured divisions.

At least 90% of these are staffed by fulltime Land Service soldiers and may be informally regarded as 1, 2 and 4 series divisions. No more than 10% of the CDF armoured divisions are staffed by parttime CDF Civil Guard soldiers as part of Central Province's 9 series divisions.

The sections below show a typical table of organization for an armoured division where italicized letters represent separate numerical series for the constituent units. Common variables are the types and numbers of engineering units and the types of artillery units. The medium tank, alias the main battle tank, is not surprisingly most commonly found in the armoured battalions. However, heavy armoured cars – effectively MBTs on wheels – are also found where all terrain mobility is not as important.

Notes

  1. Demi-brigades bear names only and not numbers, taking their identity from the division they belong to, e.g., Logistics Brigade of the 24th Armoured Division.
  2. While there is only one maintenance battalion in the division, from time to time or purpose to purpose it may be assigned to either or both of the engineering and logistics demi-brigades.
