9 series divsions are those divisional formations of the Community Defence Forces of Sober Thought which end in the number 9.

Disregarding the divisional wing provided by the CDF Air Service, all units and formations come from Central Province's Civil Guard. The series is conceived as one for armoured infantry divisions consisting entirely of parttime citizen soldiers working in concert with one regular armoured and a second militia armoured infantry divsion each.

Numbers of formations and units are given in full for the first wave. Where possible, the formula for calculating formation and unit numbers in subsequent waves is given, where w = number of population wave of one hundred million.

Notes

  1. After every third wave of 100 million national population, the units are reorganised to provide for one armoured division (5 medium tank, 1 light tank, 5 tracked APC infantry and 3 SP armoured artillery battalions), one armoured infantry division (1 medium tank, 2 light tank, 2 armoured car, 1 tracked APC infantry, 5 wheeled APC infantry and 3 SP armoured artillery battalions) and one motorised infantry division (1 armoured car, 1 wheeled APC infantry, 9 motorised infantry and 3 towed artillery battalions). Each division gets an indentical number of anti-tank artillery, air defence artillery, engineering, security, transport, supply and health battalions.
  2. Central Province as a whole contributes six battalions of engineers each wave, three used in 9 series divisions and three used elsewhere. One of these six is from the Schweindorf Engineers which has its own separate numerical sequence, but there is no simple formula to show which engineering sub-branch and which formation the metropolis' engineering battalion will go to in any given wave.
  3. Demi-brigades bear names only and not numbers, taking their identity from the division they belong to, e.g., Divisional Reserve Demi-Brigade of the 49th Armoured Division.
  4. While there is only one maintenance battalion in the division, from time to time or purpose to purpose it may be assigned to either or both of the engineering and logistics demi-brigades.
