The term 'Tenka Fubu' has multiple meanings. It may refer to the alliance, or to the region that is one of the alliance members.

This page is dedicated to describing the alliance. For information about the region, visit the Tenka Fubu NSWiki page.

All members of the Tenka Fubu Alliance as governed by Feudal Japan are considered allies of The New Meritocracy.

Stated Purpose

The mission of the Tenka Fubu Alliance was first conceived as the second element in the establishment of an empire by Nobunaga's Revenge, Emperor and first Shogun of Feudal Japan.

In November 2005, the Emperor stated that the concept of Tenka Fubu was an idea founded upon experience with the failures of known defender regions. Its intent was to help smaller regions that try to peacefully exist in relative solitude but which are ignored and/or forgotten when preyed upon by invaders. Nobunaga's Revenge outlined three initiatives by which Feudal Japan would lend its assistance, via the Tenka Fubu mission:

  • Establishing alliances with smaller regions that agree to joint military actions in defense of helpless regions.
  • Annexing dying regions directly into Tenka Fubu. Kokushus (highest rank of Daimyo) would then be placed in these provinces to rebuild and promote activity. All provincial members would be awarded the same status and opportunity as those of Feudal Japan itself.
  • Taking on struggling regions as protectorates. Joshu (medium rank fo Daimyo) who wish to become Kokushu (highest rank) would be given the opportunity to help stabilize these province regions.

The second and third of these three bullets refer to the construction of the Tenka Fubu Alliance, via the adoption of 'province regions' owing fealty to and administered by Feudal Japan.

Following the resignation of Nobunaga's Revenge from office, subsequent Shoguns (Burn up Blade, Knights of Zion) have steered away from the conception of Tenka Fubu as an expanding empire and regard it as more of a standard alliance of nations, although the government of Feudal Japan does continue to have authority over activities in the Tenka Fubu provinces.

Members of the Tenka Fubu Alliance

The region of Feudal Japan has additionally negotiated alliances with regions external to Tenka Fubu, but these are not considered part of the integral Tenka Fubu alliance. For a listing of external regions currently allied with the Tenka Fubu Alliance, visit the Feudal Japan NSWiki page and scroll to the section entitled 'Tenka Fubu'.

Controversy

The region of Cathay, a former member of the Tenka Fubu Alliance during the Shogunate of Burn up Blade, established independence by democratic vote in the spring of 2006. Its founder did not approve of the direction Burn up Blade had taken the Alliance. The region of Cathay thereupon claimed to represent the 'true Tenka Fubu' (resulting in a situation comparable to RL China and Taiwan's dilemna). This dual claim to the term Tenka Fubu remains unresolved.
