Typically, State may refer to a country (see Category:Nations), a sub-division thereof as in the United States and Australia, or a government department responsible either for internal matters or foreign relations. When used in reference to a country or government department, the term ought to be capitalised (State), whereas when defining an administrative sub-division of a nation — unless refering directly to a specific state, as in Washington State — it should not.
Some countries with states as administrative sub-divisions are listed below.
- Federated Polynesian States
- Incorporated States of Sarzonia
- Scandavian States
- Union of Southeast Asian Nations
- The United States of Edward City
- United Island Empires
Please add your nation to this list as you wish, keeping in mind alphabetical order.
