History

The Rogue Nation of Machinasia is located in the desert in the near to where the lost empire of Ultech once existed. Ultech had serious political instability after the assassination of its president, James Yangzee. A bitter civil war began between several political factions as a result and lasted about 40 years, ending in the use of several chemical and biological attacks on many settlements, and a nuclear bomb detonated in the capital at Rashwan (all of which were developed by the Ultech Military) and with hundreds of millions dead and few urban areas left, the nation ceased to exist.

Machinasia was first founded 15 years later in the small Ultech city of Technus, which had survived the war. By this time, the survivors were selling off the weapons Ultech built, and its large Nuclear, biological and Chemical weapon stockpile made the land a hotspot for terrorists and arms dealers, bringing a lot of capital into the region, and from the dust a country quickly grew. Machinasia has hence favoured technological advancement, even if it is not beneficial to mankind. Most of the population have been involved with manual labour and agricultural pratices since then, but in recent years computer systems have been replacing workers at an alarming rate and many people have become obsolete as a workforce. The United Nations have demanded inspections of human rights and weapon capabilities many times over the years, but the country has been less than co-operative with them, and makes no restraints at showing its stockpile, with the nuclear bomb testings on the Huisa plains over the years. The nation has also been reported to be building a space cannon in orbit above the region for the past 15 years, and claim to be very close to completing it. Several astronomers in different countries confirm that a cannon is indeed being constructed in space.

Geography

Machinasia is mostly located in arid desert regions with sparse woodland area. This is mostly natural, but previous over-cultivation and soil erosion has also been blamed. It is well known that the destruction of enemies valuable land was of strategic importance in the civil war. Machinasia is located in the far north western corner of Ameranta, because of its position, the country has been known to hassle foreign trade routes travelling into bordering regions. The exact size of Machinasia has never been fully determined, this is because of the constant shifting of the borders which often infringe with neighbouring nations.

Politics and government

Since Machinasia's earliest beginnings, an ultra-right wing government has existed. It didn't take long for the government to resemble a dictatorship, and now is obsessed witb ultimate control and wealth and will go to any lengths to ensure its iron grip over the country. Today, Machinasia is very controlled, with border controls regulated intensively and the government has censored countless internet sites and only teaches selective history in schools which has resulted in a very brainwashed society. Despite the constant propaganda and compulsory respect for the government, it is not known who the actual leader is. Citizens and visitors alike have wondered and debated the identity of the head of state, with often silly suggestions like Elvis Presley and ET. Over the years, approximately 1200 people have come forward claiming to be the president, however there is a widely accepted belief of there being no head of state, just a high council of sorts consisting of unidentified members. Because of the constant secrecy and lust for control, the government has been called 'Big Brother' on more than one occasion.

Military

Since its origin, Machinasia has seen the significance of a powerful military, speading obscene amounts of money on it each year. Originally, militia groups were employed to defend towns and borders. They were loathed, due to their ruthless nature and oppressive tendancies. Unfortunately, their ranks grew and these militia groups became the basis of the nation's army, which terrorise tourists and citizens alike, and openly use torture on suspected criminals.
