Founding
The Most Serene Republic of Murkadia was actually founded as a colony of Russia in the Territories of the Borderlands region. Over time ties with the mother country became quite strained as Murkadia developed a sense of independence and finally the colony broke off all connections with its parent, completely. Murkadians have rejected Russian political and economic systems completely while holding on to many of the religious and cultural aspects of Russia. Its people have devoted themselves to creating a democratic society in which each person is able to fail or succeed based on their own merits in a rather cutthroat capitalistic economy.
