Founding
The Most Serene Republic of Murkadia was actually founded as a colony of Russia in the Territories of the Borderlands region. Over time, ties with the mother country weakened as Murkadia became far more linked to the surrounding nations both economically and politically. When the former colony declared independence, Russia was in no place to argue and thus the nation gained its independence without a war. Murkadians have rejected Russian political and economic systems completely while holding on to many of the religious and cultural aspects of Russia. Its people have devoted themselves to creating a democratic society in which each person is able to fail or succeed based on their own merits in a rather cutthroat capitalistic economy.
