Porcu's Military

The Holy Republic of Porcu is a huge, environmentally stunning nation, remarkable for its complete absence of social welfare. Its hard-nosed, cynical population of 649 million are ruled with an iron fist by the dictatorship government, which ensures that no-one outside the party gets too rich. In their personal lives, however, citizens are relatively unoppressed; it remains to be seen whether this is because the government genuinely cares about its people, or if it hasn't gotten around to stamping out civil rights yet.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defence, and Public Transport. The average income tax rate is 100%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Uranium Mining industry, followed by Beef-Based Agriculture and Arms Manufacturing.

Torture is commonly used to extract information from suspected criminals, newborns are being raised as mindless killing machines, convicted felons are forced into slavery for their crimes, and CEOs and corporate executives are frequently found striking for better stock options. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Porcu's national animal is the grizzley bear, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the euro.

History

The Holy Republic of Porcu was founded by Peter who decided that in order for Catholicism to continue to exist in Hyrule, Catholics had to come together and form a nation. The Hyrulean delegate at the time(Ness Snorlaxia) welcomed the new state and soon the other nations of Hyrule followed suit. The new state florished under the protection of Hyrule and now is quickly becoming a political and ecnonomic center for the rest of Hyrule. St. Peter was the first saint elected to the position of Pope. Pope Peter ruled absolutistically so that relative peace and order was established. After Peter died of natural causes Cardinal Linus was elected to Pope. Unfortunely Pope Linus was assassinated before he could pass any new laws. The only thing that Linus was able to do was create the idea that Porcu was finally ready for some real democracy and political freedom. But it was the newly elected St. Anacletus that started that process. Newly elected Pope Anacletus quickly worked on and proposed a bill easing the control of political freedoms in Porcu. Although, several big company owners strongly opposed this new bill and threatened to shut down a large production of Porcu's industries, essentially paralyzing Porcu, the Papal order for troops of the Pontifical Guard to "persuade" the company owners was too much and after a slight stalemate the bill was passed into law by a vote of 543-231 by the Council of Cardinals.
