Overview of the Sorvosi Oppression
The Oppressed Peoples of Sorvosi is the oppressive government which uses religion, morals, and propaganda to enslave the people. The nation is small and isolationist, with an obedient population that is ruled over by an insane dictator and his family, and is known for its population's widespread xenophobia as well as abilities at war and labor. All business is run by the dictator and his family, who run everything on their world. Sorvosi is a wonderful and beautiful planet that is well preserved and has 4 moons, all of which have sustained heavy mining and hold the majority of Sorvosi's ecologically damaging industries.
Culture
All of the people in Sorvosi are split into 2 classes: The Ruling Class and the Labor Class. The Ruling Class is made of the most physically fit, intelligent and wise, and most beautiful of all the people on Sorvosi. This has come about through dozens of generations of weeding out unwanted traits through selective breeding. The Labor Class is the left overs, and though some may get to be very strong or very smart (and then disappear), none reach the levels that the Ruling Class do. The Ruling Class constitues 0.1% of the population, while the Labor Class make up the other 99.9%.
Government
The Sorvosi Government is mostly made up of the family of Lord Sorvos. His older brother is Lord of War and Defense, his younger brother is Lord of Commerce and Treasury, and his sister is Lady of Labor, State, and Foreign Affairs. Their cousin Illov is the Lord of Truth and News, the only person not of Sorvos' immediate family to have executive power. Sorvos rules over all and his edicts, no matter how strange, are always carried out. Other family such as cousins, uncles, and aunts rule over districts on the planet and on the moons.
Others of the Ruling Class have the only other political freedom: Voting for Sorvos' Council. Before, Sorvos only allowed those he chose to be on the Council, but since the population has been booming, he has decided the others of the Ruling Class may decide who is on the council. 4 political parties have emerged to gain support, though the point is rather moot since Sorvos could end everything at any minute. The parties are the Lord Sorvos Worship Party (Royalist), Rulers' Republic of Sai'Ro (Anti-Royalist), Liberation of Economy (Free Capitalist), Coalition of Social Order (Socialist).
Foreign Affairs
Recently, the nation of The Serene Death has claimed control over Sorvosi and has commanded the government to step down and free their people. Lord Sorvos' response was to destroy the warships carrying the message. In retaliation, the Serene Death government has blockaded the nation. While this does not affect Sorvosi as it is self-sufficent and does not trade, this is only a precursor to a war that the nation is fully ready to carry out.
Military
Sorvosi's small size and current position seems to mean that they have no chance against the threat of the Serene Death. However, the Sorvosi planetary defenses and weapon systems have already proven themselves a match for the Serene Death's navy. Their defensive sphere around their home planet and its moons has already proven to be strong enough to take on capital level attacks with ease.
Little is known of their other military capabilites, though they are known to fly two types of starfighters. The first and more common is a heavy gunship with the maneuverability of a fighter-bomber and the firepower of a light frigate. It carries a heavy beam cannon, 3 AAA turrets, two missle pods for anti-fighter action, and a hull-driller fusion torpedo launcher. The second is more sleak, quick, or maneuverable than the best interceptors in the Serene Death fleet. It carries dual energy beamers, dual twin-linked laser cannons, and a concussion missle launcher. The gunship is believed to be flown by the Labor Class while the interceptor is beleived to be flown by the Ruling Class.
