History
The large nation of Greater Laodicea has been marked by economic stagnation and political corruption over the past century. Much of this is due to the nation's defeat in the Grecco-Russian War against Murkadia and then being subject to the punitive sanctions placed upon the nation by the Settlement of Tiraspol that ended the war. Among other things, the Settlement of Tiraspol forbade Greater Laodicea from building an army of more than 20,000 troups (a laughable number considering the nation has a population of over 300,000,000). In recent years, the government of Murkadia has repealed many of the sanctions placed upon Greater Laodicea in an attempt to start the healing process between two nations that have been hostile towards each other for 80 years.
