The Commonwealth dollar (currency sign $; banking code CPD) is the official currency of the Commonwealth of Peoples and the member states of Laneria, Nabarro Abarca, Sahor, Gandara, Jagiella, Marlund and Finara. It is the single currency for more than two billion people in the Commonwealth.

The dollar was launched in late 2006. It was released originally as physical coins and banknotes and never went through a period of being merely an accounting currency. All Commonwealth members are eligible to make the dollar their currency provided only that they meet certain minimal financial requirements.

The dollar is administered by the Commonwealth Economic Council(CEC) based in Narich, the Resurgent Dream. Ironically, the Resurgent Dream is one of the three Commonwealth members which have not adopted the dollar as their own currency. Coordinated by the CEC, the central banks of the participating members print, mint and distribute notes and coins in their own territory.

Characteristics of the dollar

Coins and banknotes

The dollar is divided into one hundred cents. All coins and bank notes have a common side and a national side determined by the Commonwealth member in which they were minted. However, regardless of their origin, all denominations of the Commonwealth dollar are equally valid in all Commonwealth members which use the dollar as their official currency.

The Commonwealth coins come in denominations of $1, 50c, 25, 10c, 5c and 1c. The Common sides of the Commonwealth coins show various symbols of the Commonwealth. The national sides show a simple profile of the local Chief of State except in Laneria where they show the profile of a late former Chief of State.

The Commonwealth banknotes come in denominations of $1, $2, $5, $10, $20, $50, $100 and $500. The Common sides of Commonwealth dollars show various important events in the formation of the Commonwealth. The national sides show the local Chief of State (or a late former Chief of State in the case of Laneria) on the left third and major landmarks on the rest of the side.
