The Despotic Dictatorship of Despoticania is a massive, safe nation, remarkable for its compulsory military service. Its hard-nosed, cynical population of 1.01 billion are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it is mainly concerned with Law & Order, although Defence and Commerce are on the agenda. The average income tax rate is 100%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing, Automobile Manufacturing, and Woodchip Exports industries.

Parents live in fear of governmental 'child protection' squads, inheritance tax has recently been abolished, pharmacies close down as medicinal drugs are sold freely by the government, and the poor are often seen pale and dizzy after selling their blood to make ends meet. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Despoticania's national animal is the pig, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the despollar.

Despoticania was founded in 2006 AD by a group of political dissidents from all over the world. After securing a remote location as their base, they started to spread their influence over the nearby periphery regions. Now Despoticania is a large and powerful nation, ruled with an iron fist by a mysterious figure known only as "The Despot". While the Despot claims to be a benevolent dictator, the nation spends enormous amount of money to defence, law and order, and the government constantly tightens its grip of the citizens.
