Welcome

(Here follows the "Welcome. Joiiiiin usssss" automated message)

Hey, IdioC! Welcome to NSwiki. When you get a chance, tell us a bit about yourself on your User page.

(Ok, I have done. Now what) You can sign your name on talk pages by using "~~~" for your username and "~~~~" for your username and a timestamp.

(Oh. Thanks. I guess it'd look silly if I said "Ta, IdioC". I guess I'd better sign with tildes from now on. My letters my look stupid now.) Some useful pages that you might want to look over:

  • NSwiki:Welcome is a good place to start. (Well, if this isn't a welcome, blow me)
  • NSwiki:Page editing gives editing help. (Click button. Type in Box. Woo, I'm proficient)
  • NSwiki:Policy tell about the principles NSwiki operates on. (Nice to know the tenet of free speech is held dear, eh?)
  • NSwiki:Help covers a broad range of useful topics. (Well, let's face it, if a help file didn't, it'd be pretty useless)
  • NSwiki:Village pump is a place to ask questions. (Ok. is it one gush for yes, two for no?)
  • NSwiki:What to contribute gives ideas on how to get involved. (I'm doing my NS country, region, and user page already, dammit!)

To double-check your edits before saving, please press the "Show preview" button before saving the page (Ok. Valid info. Noted. Next please.), as edits are visible immediately (Well, if they weren't, the system would be pretty unreliable)

Feel free to drop me a question on my talk page - I'll answer as best I can if I'm around, or refer you to somebody who can answer better. (Ah, isn't PR wonderful?)

Happy editing! (Believe me, I'm happy already. Ish. Kinda) → Fris Θtalk 20:01, 8 Dec 2004 (GMT)

Not a problem.

There's no need to apologize at all. Keep editing. :) --Goobergunch|? 20:23, 28 Dec 2004 (GMT)

IP address credit

you asked, "Is there anyway you can attribute your IP address to an account you've made subsequently to obtain credit for the modification?"

If there is, IU haven't found the tool. Wikipedia implies that sysops and bureacrats have the ability to combine user accounts and capture credit, but this version of Mediawiki doesn't seem to be as robust as the full Wikipedia version. There are probably some open-source add-ons that Goobergunch could use to add functionality, but he's been busy with other stuff lately. As a sysop, I can't do it. Ask Goober, though - he may surprise you. → Fris Θtalk 23:32, 28 Dec 2004 (GMT)

I can do this by directly editing the database. What edits do we want to re-attribute? --Goobergunch|? 23:47, 28 Dec 2004 (GMT)
Okay, I think I did it. --Goobergunch|? 00:32, 29 Dec 2004 (GMT)

More IP oddness

Odd. The edits appear to have been reattributed at Kurui's history page but not on your contributions page. I'll nose around a bit later to try to work out the issue here (I've got several essays to write for college apps, so I can't guarantee a quick response). --Goobergunch|? 17:31, 30 Dec 2004 (GMT)

Infobox Character and Category:Characters

You've used Template:Infobox Character on a couple of articles (Kuruinin Tapeworm, Kuruinin Karierbaag) that aren't characters. I'm glad like the table format, but you should copy the table code from the template rather than using the template itself. Category:Characters automatically gets added to all template users, and that is misleading in this case. There is no way to use the template leaving out the category, so please change how you use that page, if you would. → Fris Θtalk 23:56, 28 Dec 2004 (GMT)

Thanks for taking care of the tables. It helps.
Now, concerning Category:Kurui: Categories are not articles (there is a help article about this, but I can't put my finger on it right now). There should be at most one or two lines of text in there, possibly linking to one or more articles, and best with no graphics. What it should not contain is a description of the articles in the category. You can click for that. Feel free to copy relevant portions to your main nation page or something like that, but please take that massive graphic and text description elsewhere. Again, thanks. → Fris Θtalk 23:09, 30 Dec 2004 (GMT)
