Province: Plateau
District: Coast Range
Sacred Tree: AREMOV
Function: Drinking quartpots
Population: Remote

Quartpot and Curley are the only population centres in the remote Coast Range district of the Plateau province in Errinundera that are classified as towns.

Quartpot was originally settled by gold fossickers in the 1850s, but was rapidly overshadowed by the far richer seams of Bola Mine. For a time, prior to the Liberation of 1941, the Potties tried to establish a cattle industry, however it too was abandoned due to the difficulty of the terrain.

Finally, NGDV Ltd tried to establish a saw mill and clearfelling operation nearby. Once again, this came to nothing, being opposed by the vast majority of Errinundrians.

There are several theories as to how the town got its name. The most widely accepted is that it was named after the only really profitable enterprise in the town, the Quartpot Pub.

The Coast Range Football Club is based in Quartpot although it does play a couple of games each season in Curley. Like almost all other enterprises in this town it has struggled to establish itself, often languishing in the provincial league.
