The Free Land of The Anachronism is a large, environmentally stunning nation, remarkable for its strong anti-business politics. Its compassionate population of 45 million have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.
It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Public Transport, Social Equality, and the Environment. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 45%. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Uranium Mining.
It is illegal to make racist remarks in public, political parties are banned from advertising and receiving private donations, military funding has been stripped back, and college students make ends meet by selling their kidneys. Crime is a problem, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. The Anachronism's national animal is the Gapp, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Gapp Wing.
