The Republic of Yuunli was founded in April 2005, and joined the United Nations in the same month. A few days/years later, the Executive Council of the Republic decided to move to the International Democratic Union.

Yuunli consists of two Autonomous Communities: Mysh Island and Sklyrachy.

Political system

Executive

The executive of the Republic is the Executive Council, consisting of:

  • Councilors elected for 3 years by the citizens. They make policies within the framework of the current legislation. Every Councilor is responsible for one department, such as education, infrastructure or international relations.
  • The Representatives of the Autonomous Communities represent the executive of Mysh Island and Sklyrachy, respectively. With joint forces, the two representatives can block Council decisions.
  • Chairperson elected for 3 years by the citizens. The chairperson's role is to moderate in case there is a conflict among Councilors and/or Representatives. Moreover s/he represents the Republic abroad.

Legislature

The legislative branch of the Republic is called Legislative Assembly. The Assembly does not have fixed members, but consists of representatives of political parties. Those parties are elected every 4 years by the citizens in a proportion-vote system.

The Assembly also has Observers from the parliaments of Mysh Island and Sklyrachy. With joint forces, the two observers can block bills.

International relations

The Republic of Yuunli belongs to the International Democratic Union, and it is member of the United Nations, it has close diplomatic ties to The Sultanate of the Ayyubids.

Geography

Yuunli consists of two parts: Sklyrachy is a landlocked part of the IDU continent (13% of Yuunli's population), Mysh Island is an island off the north-west coast of that continent (87% of the population). Yuunli has an area of 4,694,682 km² (1,813,402 square miles).

Mysh Island is located in the north of the IDU landmass. To the west and east, there are uninhabited islands. To the south-west, there is the Democratic Federation of Grosseschnauzer, to the south-east the Empire of Keeslandia.

Sklyrachy borders the Democratic Federation of Grosseschnauzer in the north, an uninhabited land in the east, the Community of Sober Thought in the south, and the Interstellar Federation of DataGenesis in the west.

On the following map, rivers are blue and provincial borders are red, unless they are marked by rivers.

Provinces

The two autonomous communities of Yuunli enjoy great autonomy. They are further divided into provinces.

See the articles Mysh Island and Sklyrachy for details.

Populace

Religions

Religious affiliation is not asked in a census, that's why only estimates exist.

It is estimated that 53% of Yuunli's population follow a religion called strigidism (30% of them follow the traditional variant, 70% the modern variant) and 40% are atheists. The remaining 7% are mostly muslims and jews.

The mountainous regions are strongholds of traditional strigidism, whereas the modern variant is stronger in the coastal and hilly provinces.
Atheists are more common in more urbanized provinces.
Other religions are more common in coastal provinces.

Fore more information about strigidist beliefs, see Strigidism.

National symbols

The flag of Yuunli is a combination of the flags of the island and the continental part, separated by a blue band representing the sea, joined by a yellow star representing the sun and the ideals of the Republic.
