A Brief Introduction to The People's Dominion of Snoogit
750 years ago the lands of Snoogit were not yet discovered, nor were they even fully exolored by humans. From the lands of the Northern Pacific region a small segregated legion of mostly disposed workers set sail to the east in search of new territory. Luckily for them they came across a large mass of land. In honor of the man who discovered the land: Alexius vanSnoogit they christened this new land Snoogit.
The expanded History of the PDS
What started as the small nation of Snoogit, Quickly exploded as more and more area was explored. It wasn't until 200 years after first landfall that the land was fully explored. Still isolated from the rest of the world the tiny nation of Snoogit quickly became a giant segregated land of many different names: Dolinia, Mount Capni, Ferrence, Tolgarth, Youpsi, and Collinar emerged on the new continent. This seperation only lasted but a few centuries, and the nations of Snoogit joined under one banner: The People's Dominion of Snoogit. The capital Dolinia City was named after Prince Felly Dolina, son of King Harn Dolina who negotiated the peace treaty between all the nations of Snoogit.
The Former Nations of Snoogit
Dolinia
The small nation of Dolinia was located in the northeastern area of Snoogit, and was home to the Dolinian Kingdom. Formed when a small group of Snoogarian leaders defected the original colony in favor of a new government Dolinia became a beacon for all who lived within her borders. Dolinia boasted immense castle-style structures, and ornate decorations in all its archetecture. Its people were generally ruled with the soft hands of her monarch, and war was rarely initiated. Even with its small size, Dolinia became the most powerful nation in the continent.
Mount Capni
The largest nation in terms of landmass, Mount Capni stretched from the south-eastern tip of Snoogit to the fertle lands of the interior. Known for its hard working individuals, and attention to the rights of labor workers the nation of Mount Capni soon outgrew its namesake moving farther west until it hit fertle ground in the middle of Snoogit. The Mount Capni Laborers Union was the government of Mount Capni, with its leader serving as President. Business in Mount Capni was state-owned and was offered no flexibility.
The most influential President of Mount Capni was Herb Franco, who led Mount Capni for 15 years, and bought out companies in Mount Capni to control them via the state.
Ferrence
Lacking any real power over the rest of the nations in Snoogit, Ferrence lived in seclusion, and rarely interacted with the rest of the region. Ferrence is off the eastern coast of Snoogit on a volcanic fault, and is subject to constant volcanic eruptions. The only instance of Ferrence ever collaborating with another nation of Snoogit was when a massive volcanic explosion coverened a large area of Dolinia with volcanic ash. The only known leader of Ferrence was Darnyl Ulash, who ruled for 5 years, and was assassinated by Ferrence Rebels.
Tolgarth
Nestled in the frigid north western territories of Snoogit, Tolgarth ammassed a large army within its borders that left many of the nations in Snoogit fearful of Tolgarth's intentions. The best known leader of Tolgarth is the Emperor Protectorate Gerren Holsebeck of Renalgan, who later took power ofer the Unified Nations of Snoogit soon afer its inception.
Youpsi
Located in the south western area of Snoogit, Youpsi was designated a criminal dumping ground by all the other nations of Snoogit. Youpsi was the first allied effort by all member nations of Snoogit to achieve a common goal. Today Youpsi is home to Snoogit's only prison, which is one of the few that can be seen from space. Youpsi is also home to the Snoogarian Space Agency: SNSL (The Snoogit National Space League)
Collinar
When Mount Capri expanded west, it was the model country of the land of Snoogit. It had the largest GDP, and boasted the best manufacturers in the land. When Mount Capir began to enter the industrial revolution, Collinar was left behind. A bitter war erupted between Mount Capri, and the Collinarian Rebels. Unfortunately of Mount Capri, Collinar won the war, and soon created the land of Collinar. Its first leader; Marlina Telegarde was the only female to preside over any authority in Snoogit before the unification.
Collinar soon became the largest exporter of food and reageants to the land of Snoogit.
The Former Snoogarian Monarchy
Soon after the unification of Snoogarian lands, the Emperor Protectorate Gerren Holsebeck of Tolgarth ascended to the prime position of power. This monarchy lasted for 100 years, each year under Holsebeck's rule. Holsebeck kept himself on artificial life support for the last few years of his monarchial rule, until formally resigning power to the decision of the people 200 years ago.
Under Holsebeck's rule, Snoogit saw a socialist iron-fist ruler, with a penchant for censorship of anything not supporting the government.
The Snoogarian Democracy
On Holsebeck's deathbed, the people of Snoogit demanded the ability to vote. It wasn't until Holsebeck's final breath that the power to vote was finally given. With the sign of a pen and an uproarious cheer, the people of Snoogit finally got their wish. Instead of giving power to someone else, Emperor Protectorate Holsebeck's final gift to his people was the freedom to vote.
The first leader of The Peoples' Dominion of Snoogit was Felly Dolina the III, the great great grandson of the highly regarded Dolina family. It was Felly Dolina the III that declared Dolinia City the official capital of the PDS. He led the PDS on a path of civil freedoms, with decent economic success, but little political freedom. Parties were limited to the Dolina Family, and the families of former regional leaders.
Current leadership
Current Protectorate Matthieϋ Andrϋs (of the royal Hubert family of Collinar) has pledged his support for more political freedom.
