A Brief Introduction to The People's Dominion of Snoogit
750 years ago the lands of Snoogit were not yet discovered, nor were they even fully exolored by humans. From the lands of the Northern Pacific region a small segregated legion of mostly disposed workers set sail to the east in search of new territory. Luckily for them they came across a large mass of land. In honor of the man who discovered the land: Alexius vanSnoogit they christened this new land Snoogit.
Snoogarian Culture
Snoogarian culture was born from three distinct European and Asian Cultures. Most immigrants to Snoogit came from Southern Europe, Eastern Europe, and Far Eastern Asia. The influences of the Dutch, Russian, and Indian cultures can be found all over Snoogarian cities. The first colonists were from THe Netherlands, following the Slavic peoples. Eventually before the formation of Snoogit a large contingent of far eastern slaves were brought in to the former nation of Tolgarth. To this day Tolgarth is paying reperations mandated by the Snoogarian government.
Census Statistics of Snoogit
While Snoogit is home to many different races, the three dominant races are Caucasion, Slavic, and Indian. the laest census gives the following statistics of 2.289 Billion people:
Caucasian: 30% Indian: 28% Slavic: 18% African: 9% Other: 6.4% Latin American: 5% Far Eastern (West of India): 3.6%
The median age for most Snoogarians is 31.2 years old, and the average income of a Snoogarian citizen is ß19,676.66 Snouros ($2,802.38 US Dollars). (7 snouros = 1 U.S. Dollar) while this may seem low, the government as a whole provides many services to the people including housing and basic food supplies. THe average lifespan of a snoogarian is 82 years old, with the oldest person on Snoogarian record, Herman vandeerkomph living to the age of 117 years old.
Snoogarian Holidays
January 15th: Snoogarian Cattle Day The celebration of one of the nation's largest and most useful animals. Snoogarian cattle are used to feed, clothe, and beautify the Snoogarian population. THe hide is wonderful for clothing, the meat is more succulent then Angus Beef, the milk is plentiful, and the oils that the cow produces can be used in many different products.
The First Monday of March: Snoogarian Liberation Day (AKA Election day) This was the day that Snoogit held its first elections. The day is celebrated with all labor stopped, and everyone votes on the elections of the year.
April 18th: vanSnoogit Day Celebrates the day Snogit was found. No State labor is done on this day.
July 29th: Foundation Day This was the day that Snoogit was formed from the old nations, into one unified country. Massive displays of Felly DOlinia will crowd the streetways, and everyone will procede to walk around town naked in honor of the event. The people get naked in order to celebrate the founder of the Unified Nation of Snoogit: King Harn Dolina, who was a well known nudist, and refused to wear his royal outfit.
The Third Friday of August: Muhammad AlDajeer Day This day is to honor the civil rights hero Muhammad Aldajeer, who protested the Tolgarthian practice of slavery. AlDajeer was brutally murdered by an unknown assailant in Delgorn, Tolgarth which is considered by some scholars to be the first spark in the Tolgarthain Civil War.
October 30th: Book Publishing Day A day to honor the workers of Snoogit';s largest industry, BOok Publishing. on this day Book Publishers generally give the workers the day off.
Snoogarian Religious Influences
While the government does not formally recognize any religious institution, It does not ban the practice of religion. All religious institutions are considered the same as a for-profit business, unless they offer some form of secular service to the people, that does not require attendance, or teaches religious doctrine to the recipients of the service.
The Church in Snoogit is mostly non-catholic Protestant Christians, other religions are also represented in Snoogit, including but not limited to: Hinduism, Islam, Catholocism, and Judaism. A census indicated that roughly 15% of Snoogit attends religious institutions, but only 8% go on a regular business. Most Snoogarians list their religion as "Inward Homeopathy" a recent trend popularized by a new age television guru.
Snoogarian English
A combination of Englsih, Dutch, Russian, and Farsi Snoogarian english is able to be interpreted by the majority of english speaking people. Various spellings and pronounciations of Snoogarian English can be taken quite differently. Mostly influenced by English, Snoogarian english also has many words and pronounciations that reflect the culture. Snoogarian English etymology can be referenced to the Dutch, Russian and Farsi languages.
Snoogarian Education System
Education of all Snoogarians begins almost immediately.
Toddler Education
Age 3 Beginning at age 3 Snoogarians learn how to count, read and speak Snoogarian English. This course is only for one year, and can only taken twice. If the student fails in the first year, and the again in the second, they are placed into Remedial education. Basic Requirements are reading, verbal communication, and counting skills at the end of the class.
Primary School
Ages 4-9 Similar to Elementary School, the student will have the same teacher for five years. Each student at the end of the five year course must know basic Algebra, as well as Intermediate Writing, and cognitive skills. Afetr five years a test is given to each student, a failing grade is below 70% comprehension. If a student fails the test twice, they are sent to Remedial Education.
Seconday Education
Ages 8-13 Another 5 year course, only this time a student will have a new teacher every year. Every student in this school must have advanced algebra skills, and be able to read and understand Snoogarian english with 90% profeciency. Again a tet is administered, and again a student is given two tries at it. Anything below 70% comprehension results in failure, and the failing student is sent to remedial education.
Advanced Education
Ages 13-18 A 5 year course offering basic calculus, and advanced scientific studies. Each student is now on an hourly schedule with each subject being taught by a different teacher. English is only a one year class, and is generally only focusing on literature understanding, and writing comprehension. At this point it is assumed Snoogarian students have a full grasp of the Snoogarian Language, and are competent enough to function in society. A student if passing will have 90% comprehension in calculus, and three major scientific fields including but not limited to: Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Systems, Geography, and Astronomy. A final test is offerend, and 97% comprehension is required to pass the test. Students who do not pass the test are placed into the general labor pool, and are free to pursue their career.
Universal Education
Ages 18+ For the students who do pass the 90% comprehension test, are rewarded with the opportunity to study more deeply any field they desire. Access to further education is paid fully by the government, and is considered labor by the state. (You are paid a wage to study further) These students contribute to the furtherment of the society through research and development. All students with 97% comprehension are allowed to enter the labor force if they so wish, but are given a lifetime of learning if they desire. Even with the strict comprehension test, Snoogit's population has a high passing rate of testing.
Remedial Education
Ages 4-18 Students placed into remedial education are by far not the worst off of the bunch. Remedial education trains students who did not pass comprehension tests the chance to reemerge into formal education when they can comprehend tests, or are deemed suitable enough for basic labor skills. Students from remedial school often pursue employment in entertainment, and leisure, but in some instances few have become politcians, and even doctors and scientists, after they completed comprehension tests to get back into formal education.
Snoogarian Sport
Snoogarians enjoy many sports, but the most popular is Team Handball, it's main league is the "Snoogit Handball International Tournament" is the main attraction. Other sports also are popular in Snoogit, including Golf, Hockey, and Basketball. Snoogarians look up to popular Handball Player Ferdinand Dashinki, who has led Team Snoogit to three Gold Medals at the Regional Olympics.
Snoogarian Media
Snoogarian Media has no official censorship law, and any censorship of the media is strictly forbidden. With no private or publis censorship board, Snoogarian media ranges from the benign, to the extreme graphic. While most Snoogarians don't want censorship, they generally frown upon scenes of grotesque violence.
The most recent Box Office Hit "Leashed" was a tale of an S&M exhibitionist who fought for her rights 50 years ago. NUdity in film is generally accepted, and is even promoted positively within the media. It is a common practice for a Snoogarian actors, and actresses to film intense scenes of nudity for a chance to get noticed by the Snoogarian Movie Critics.
Television and other broadcast mediums are also free and public use of any type. Channels dedicated to many different subjects exist. While censorship is completely illegal, strict laws are placed on broadcast ownership. The government rewards portrayals of minorities, and various artistic merrit with their own awards shows. While Snoogarian ethnicity is largely represented, the awards have come to promote daring and original stories involving ethnic minorities.
The Expanded History of the PDS
What started as the small nation of Snoogit, Quickly exploded as more and more area was explored. It wasn't until 200 years after first landfall that the land was fully explored. Still isolated from the rest of the world the tiny nation of Snoogit quickly became a giant segregated land of many different names: Dolinia, Mount Capni, Ferrence, Tolgarth, Youpsi, and Collinar emerged on the new continent. This seperation only lasted but a few centuries, and the nations of Snoogit joined under one banner: The People's Dominion of Snoogit. The capital Dolinia City was named after Prince Felly Dolina, son of King Harn Dolina who negotiated the peace treaty between all the nations of Snoogit.
The Flag of the PDS
When Snoogit was split up into the 5 seperate nations, and the process of unification was taking place the various nations of the Pre-PDS where split over what family would be represented on the flag. Wach royal family wanted their say on the final design of the flag, and deliberations waged on for days at a time. Finally a legislator suggested that the flag be inclusive of all members of the PDS. The proposal was to use a cross on the flag, and a shield to represent the family of the man who was elected first Protectorate. The colors of Red, White, Yellow, and Green each have their own meaning. Red was the color choice of Dolinia for the red sunrises that bless her skies. Yellow was the color of Youpsi and its golden sands. Green the color of the plains of Capni, and Collinar, and White the color the frozen tundra of Tolgarth.
The Shield belonged to the Andrϋs family, the first protectors of the People's Dominion of Snoogit.
The Former Nations of Snoogit
Dolinia
The small nation of Dolinia was located in the northeastern area of Snoogit, and was home to the Dolinian Kingdom. Formed when a small group of Snoogarian leaders defected the original colony in favor of a new government Dolinia became a beacon for all who lived within her borders. Dolinia boasted immense castle-style structures, and ornate decorations in all its archetecture. Its people were generally ruled with the soft hands of her monarch, and war was rarely initiated. Even with its small size, Dolinia became the most powerful nation in the continent.
Mount Capni
The largest nation in terms of landmass, Mount Capni stretched from the south-eastern tip of Snoogit to the fertle lands of the interior. Known for its hard working individuals, and attention to the rights of labor workers the nation of Mount Capni soon outgrew its namesake moving farther west until it hit fertle ground in the middle of Snoogit. The Mount Capni Laborers Union was the government of Mount Capni, with its leader serving as President. Business in Mount Capni was state-owned and was offered no flexibility.
The most influential President of Mount Capni was Herb Franco, who led Mount Capni for 15 years, and bought out companies in Mount Capni to control them via the state.
Ferrence
Lacking any real power over the rest of the nations in Snoogit, Ferrence lived in seclusion, and rarely interacted with the rest of the region. Ferrence is off the eastern coast of Snoogit on a volcanic fault, and is subject to constant volcanic eruptions. The only instance of Ferrence ever collaborating with another nation of Snoogit was when a massive volcanic explosion coverened a large area of Dolinia with volcanic ash. The only known leader of Ferrence was Darnyl Ulash, who ruled for 5 years, and was assassinated by Ferrence Rebels.
Tolgarth
Nestled in the frigid mineral rich north western territories of Snoogit, Tolgarth is well known for the keeping and trading of slaves from Far Eastern countries, a practice that started the First Tolgarthian Civil War, which ultimately led to Tolgarth ammassing a large army within its borders that left many of the nations in Snoogit fearful of Tolgarth's intentions. The best known leader of Tolgarth is the Emperor Protectorate Gerren Holsebeck of Renalgan, who later took power after the Unified Nations of Snoogit soon afer its inception. Their large mountainous terrain provided the region with many mineral resources, and also led to the Tolgarthian Platinum Rush, all the former nations flocked to the area to claim a prize.
Youpsi
Located in the south western area of Snoogit, Youpsi was designated a criminal dumping ground by all the other nations of Snoogit. Youpsi was the first allied effort by all member nations of Snoogit to achieve a common goal. Today Youpsi is home to Snoogit's only prison, which is one of the few that can be seen from space. Youpsi is also home to the Snoogarian Space Agency: SNSL (The Snoogit National Space League)
Collinar
When Mount Capri expanded west, it was the model country of the land of Snoogit. It had the largest GDP, and boasted the best manufacturers in the land. When Mount Capir began to enter the industrial revolution, Collinar was left behind. A bitter war erupted between Mount Capri, and the Collinarian Rebels. Unfortunately of Mount Capri, Collinar won the war, and soon created the land of Collinar. Its first leader; Marlina Telegarde was the only female to preside over any authority in Snoogit before the unification.
Collinar soon became the largest exporter of food and reageants to the land of Snoogit.
The Former Snoogarian Monarchy
Soon after the unification of Snoogarian lands, the Emperor Protectorate Gerren Holsebeck of Tolgarth ascended to the prime position of power. This monarchy lasted for 100 years, each year under Holsebeck's rule. Holsebeck kept himself on artificial life support for the last few years of his monarchial rule, until formally resigning power to the decision of the people 200 years ago.
Under Holsebeck's rule, Snoogit saw a socialist iron-fist ruler, with a penchant for censorship of anything not supporting the government.
The Snoogarian Democracy
On Holsebeck's deathbed, the people of Snoogit demanded the ability to vote. It wasn't until Holsebeck's final breath that the power to vote was finally given. With the sign of a pen and an uproarious cheer, the people of Snoogit finally got their wish. Instead of giving power to someone else, Emperor Protectorate Holsebeck's final gift to his people was the freedom to vote.
The first leader of The Peoples' Dominion of Snoogit was Felly Dolina the III, the great great grandson of the highly regarded Dolina family. It was Felly Dolina the III that declared Dolinia City the official capital of the PDS. He led the PDS on a path of civil freedoms, with decent economic success, but little political freedom. Parties were limited to the Dolina Family, and the families of former regional leaders.
The Four Official Branches of the Snoogarian Government
Leadership: The official members of The People's Selected Membership. This council is thenational figureheads who are elected to the national government to preside over the daily deliberations of the lower levels of Snoogarian government. They are the final vote in all accordances of law, and enforce it to the best of their abilities. Their tasks include passing and approving all new legislation, enforcing current law, and providing the people with the messages from the government. The Leadership branch has spokespeople who
Legal: The members of The People's Repersentatives. Their duty is to create and justify any laws that are to be enacted for the people. All legislation passes through this branch, which is held by one congressional body, unlike many other systems of democracy, the legal branch is kept in check by the Leadership branch, who decides what laws can be debated, and what laws are to be passed. They are also the prime investigators of all the branches of the People's government. When a government official is being interrogated for crimes they hace committed it is the Legal branch's duty to provide any and all information they find to the Leadership branch for proper sentencing, and punishment.
Protectorate: With only 6 elected officials (5 justices, and one leader) the Protectorate branch is the lease understood of all the branches of the Snoogarian Government. The leader of the Protectorate branch is called the Protectorate. This person is in charge of the 5 judicial nominees that the public selects. It is the protectorate's role to point out any problems within all levels of government, also the Protectorate is also given the power to propose legislation. It is the role of the 5 justices to interpret the laws of the state.
Civil Defense: All military operations are controlled through the Civil Defense branch of the government. With very little actual defense funding allotted to this branch, the Civil Defense branch is mainly composed of proposing new science, and technological research in The PDS. Its job is to handle all issues associated with the Public's daily life including Science, Religion, and culture. They oversee the construction of new housing, the funding of new research and protect the citizens from any form of censorship.

Leadership Branch
Each state in Snoogit elects one representative to this branch. Currently there are 6 elected officials to the branch:
Dolinia: Dr. Martin Vandenhurn - Former Head of the Dolinian Government, earned a Ph D. from Torian University, is responsible for creating Snoogit's education system.
Mount Capni: Daniel Schneer - Ran the Capni Institute on Horticulture, Gained political support when he helped make profitable crops possible again.
Ferrence: John Yulan - Grandson of the Former leader of Ferrent Rebellion against the Ulash family, Yulan gainsed political support when Ferrence Joined the PDS.
Tolgarth: Cmdr. Fredrick "Tank" McGee - Former head of the 21st armament of the Snoogarian army, when stationed in Tolgarth, the Commander used the frigid temperature to mold his soldiers into some of the best in the PDS.
Youpsi: Herman Mueller - New Age Guru, and promoter of Marijuana use as a means of relaxation. Surprising canidate became politically active as the people of Youpsi try to regain their dignity from the placement of the Prison in their state.
Collinar: Mnsgr. Stanley Temple the Monsingnor is head of the "Snoogarian Environmental Protection Fleet" a highly mobile group of people who wish to see all of Snoogit adhere to strict environmental laws.
The Leadership council's office is located within the capital, it is also home to the many clerks, press officers, and other hired help the Leadership feels it needs.
Legal Branch
The Legal Branch is divided up into different precincts within the Snoogarian States based on population. Each precinct elects two officials, and at current count the total amount of officials is 17,707 elected officials. Or roughly one representative per one million people. The Legal Branch's main debate office can hold 20,000 delegates at any given time, and has also been used as a theatre for performances to the public. The offices for the Legal Branch were just completed as a 28 story building facing the Ulanth river which divides the Capital into two sectors.
The Protectorate
Current Protectorate: Matthieϋ Andrϋs (of the royal Hubert family of Collinar) has pledged his support for more political freedom.
The five justices for The PDS are:
Georgeie Drensh - at 52 years old, she is the second youngest judge on the bench, she is a former lawyer, and former Head Justice of Dolinia. She is a supporter of Women's rights, and Always sides with any bill that increases education opportunities.
Milton Stanley - First Native Snoogarian* elected to the court, he is an advocate of minority rights, and encourages the right to political freedom
Steven Felhorn - Former member of The People's Selected Membership for Tolgarth, Justice Felhorn stands for Military freedom, he is seen as the most conservative member of this branch.
Terri Lance - The first genderless member of the Snoogarian Court, Terry was the result of an experiment by a rogue doctor. Terri now advocats for patient's rights.
Delgard Veendershoschen = The only justice who was not born in The PDS, Delgard is an advocate for Immigrants rights.
Civil Defense
Civil Defens is an appointed branch of the government, chosen by The members of The People's Selected Membership to carry out their duties. Their leader is Tolgarth-born Ferdinad Sinthrov, a former Professor of Applied Sciences at Yurin University.
Political Parties of Snoogit
There are three main political parties in Snoogit, and they are:
The People's Democratic Party
The main party in power in Snoogit. They are the liberal wing of Snoogarian Government. Currently the PDP has served in the Protectorate's chair for 13 years. They believe in a strong central government, and a strong sense of personal liberties and freedoms. While not the most gifted economists, The PDP has been the controlling party for a long time
The Tolgard Party
The main ruling party of the providence of Tolgarth, and the conservative wing of the Snoogarian Democracy. While mostly oppressed by the majority of Snoogarian voters, The Tolgard party nevertheless is monitored closely by many civilian watchdog groups for its history of corruption.
The Particima Delolean
No one knows what their name means, but they generally believe in absolute freedom of the people from all forms of oppression. It was the PD party that brought about the anti censorship laws that founded the Snogarian Media. Many media owners are members of the PD
