Origins

ALSN is an acronym which stands for Apocalyptic League of Sovereign Nations.

ALSN never started out as ALSN. The region was originalled called Ragnarok Apocalypse. But, following some radical changes in the UN that were unfavourable to the nations of the region, we made the move to leave the UN en mass. Subsequent to that, we gave all remaining UN nations time to either leave the UN and remain in the new region of ALSN, or leave the region. Many stayed in the region, and for a long time we were without any UN members, and access to the region was very strict. It wasn't until a wave of new nations began to arrive in ALSN that these restrictions were lifted.

Since then, many nations have come and gone, but the embargo on UN membership has been lifted. As a result, the founder, who had once served as delegate, has reassumed that position following a shift in the balance of power after a couple of nations took their endorsements from the Empire of Roycelandia and redirected them to the nation of Kryozerkia.

History

Historically, ALSN was home to a handful of nations who were linked to each other in real life. Most of the nations that were part of the original region have since ceased to exist. But, without their involvement in the original region, ALSN wouldn't be where it is today.

The original members:

The nations that are indented are nations which spawned from the original nations following the first regional war. They were still part of the original region because of the age of the nations who were the original occupants of the region.

Founding

Both Ragnarok Apocalypse and ALSN were founded by Kryozerkia, who served as a delegate in both regions.

It was founded after the nations of Kryozerkia, Kutou-koku, Brycovia and Dor Cirion came into existance. It was founded by these four nations who wanted a home together. They were then joined by the original natives, starting with The Eastern Alliance and Spryochaetia, followed by Odinland, The Ultimate Freedom, Erthsphere Alliance and The Singular. Almost all of the original members belonged to the UN, making the region heavily influenced by UN mandates and resolutions.

The First War

The nation of Kutou-koku had it's late Dowager Empress, Empress Ai overthown following the rebellion in Kryozerkia, which saw the implementation of the first democratic government, thus sending into exile, former Prime Minister Chikita. She later turned up in Kutou-koku, and having taken the throne from the Dowager Empress, she declared herself to be the leader of Kutou-koku. Seeking revenge on the country that wronged, her, she decided to pursue war.

Simply put - the rebellion in Kryozerkia was the indirect cause for the regional war.

With Chikita having declared war on Kryozerkia, the region became divided.

The Eastern Alliance and Brycovia took strong stances against Kutou-koku and declared war on them, while Dor Cirion remained neutral, stating that its intentions were only to up border security, as it is the neighbour of both Kryozerkia and Kutou-koku. Meanwhile, most of the other nations didn't even declare their intentions and they steered clear of the whole war.

The conflict received outside help. The nation of Witticism was the main ally for Kryozerkia during that conflict.

The war was long and tiring. It cost many lives.

In the midst of the whole war, Kryozerkia was thrown into civil war as its northern province of Farflorin made a move to supercede the rest of the country during the time of war. In the same time period, the war nad centralised itself on Qu'Dong, teh capital of Kutou-koku, and it would be just days before ordered was restored to almost all of Kutou-koku. The one exception was to the western half of the province of Kirin Tor. The Eastern Alliance, deciding it wanted a chunk of Kutounese land, took the land as spoils of war.

Cold War

Following the end of the war, there was a period of regional rest, during which Kryozerkia declared that it didn't want Farflorin any more and was happy with it as independant, even though it still had some rule over Farflorinian decision. Also in the same time, there was a move to establish democratic rule in West Kirin Tor and Farflorin.

During this time, Brycovia also made use of the trend of kicking out unwanted people. Doing a British style exile of criminals, it formed its colonial territory of Nifleheim Ragnarok, which was and to this day remains a hotbed for illicit criminal activity.

Elections were not a plausible in West Kirin Tor. The Eastern Alliance had an iron grip on the region. It didn't tolerate much in the way of dissent and left the elections to a later date until complete order could be established. At the same time, Farflorin without much help - actually none (well, obvious help at least) had managed to get functioning elections. However, its chosen style off goverment wasn't favourable in the eyes of The Eastern Alliance, which decided that it didn't like the way things were working there and moved to place troops in Farflorin, thus, starting what might've been another war.

Strangely, there was no gunfire exchanged. There were a lot of harsh words exchanged between the nations. The Eastern Alliance hadn't got in very far. But, it was in enough that it did spark a deep rift in regional affairs, thus resulting it being evicted for very aggressive and disrespectful actions that weren't befitting of ALSN ideals, at the time.

Changes in Geography

Following the departure of The Eastern Alliance many of the other nations began to fall off the map. Dor Cirion only remains because it agreed to be a protectorate of Kryozerkia, even though the administration would never admit to that.

Following the arrival of Bjaweir, Talematros, Roycelandia and Andocha, the face of ALSN changed radically over the last while.

Redistribution of Land

With The Eastern Alliance gone, Kutou-koku sought to reclaim West Kirin Tor, but gave up and let East Kirin Tor join with the west. But, Kirin Tor didn't last long on its own until it came back. The same couldn't be said for Farflorin which is doing very well for itself as a semi-autonomous state.

Dor Cirion's land expanded to include the former lands of Yomi no Kumi.

Brycovia and Kryozerkia both expanded, taking over the lands that had belonged to The Eastern Alliance.

But, while these nations expanded their borders, new ones came along.

One of the more notable breakways was the all-female land of Nyosei. The Queendom Nyosei is dominated by a population of women that generally hates men. When it broke away, it was very unwelcomed in the region and it took it many months to break the ice barrier for diplomatic relations with other nations.

Zekegard, a former province of Kryozerkia tried a stint in independance, but it didn't last long before it came back because it was unable to maintain itself. The bureaucracy of Zekegard had become too large for it to maintain, plus it was run by complete morons who had no idea about how to run a country.

Territorial Claims

Many nations ventured through the region, but few made very little territorial claims.

The majority of the new claims belong to, Roycelandia, Talematros and its various little colonial lands, as well as Andocha, Bjaweir, the Soviet Islands and the Ragnarok Islands.

The centrally located landmass that originally belonged to the original occupants is still in the hands of those who were there first. This means, Kryozerkia, its semi-autonomous state of Farflorin, Kutou-koku, Dor Cirion and Brycovia. And, even though they weren't an original native, Roycelandia has a large claim of land on this large area.

A chain of islands in the western part of the region belong to the Soviet Islands.

To the east, there is another chain of islands and they are part of the cluster known as the Ragnarok Islands. There is a main island and it is a left over from the first regional war (Nifleheim Ragnarok)

Current State of Affairs

Some of the more hotbeds in the region have been rather docile as of late. Farflorin, Kutou-koku and Niflegheim Ragnarok have been behaving themselves. In other words - they haven't had their hand in the pot! Well, until very recently when the situtatiom in Clearwafer went to hell in a handbasket and Farflorin took it upom themselves to act and take the situtation under control.

Talematrian Conflict

Talematros came to ALSN as a single nation with amy provinces, but over the last while, the provinces of Drybread (who are notably very stupid) and Clearwafer have made attempts to supercece the Federation. But it has failed due to their agendas and personal policies. Drybread hasn't been successful because it's well, very stupid, and Clearwafer looked like it would gain independance. However, whenever it appeared that it would get close to it, something would happen to set it back from achieving statehood and sovereignty from Talematros.

Generally, the regional policy on them for a while had been - it's time to re-educate Drybread before the stupidity spreads like wildfire via means of Roycelandia's vibrant re-education program whose goal is to eradicate studpity across the map. But, with Drybread being rather quiet, it has become obvious that the real problem for Talematros isn't the very stupid nation of Drybread but rather the nation of Clearwafer.

Corruption reigns supreme there. The people live in fear. Talematrian forces aren't a welcome sight for the citizens who for the most part fear the soldiers because of their dangerous nature.

The former president of Clearwafer has been brought to 'justice' in Talematros and this has many people in Clearwafer very peeved over the control that Talematros exerts over them. They have a strong desire for freedom.

Now, this seems like a simple domestic issue which could lead to civil war, however, it has become a regional conflict because Roycelandia and Kryozerkia feel that this is a security issue that Talematros hasn't been able to successfully address. However, Talematros claims that it has made earlier pleas for help that were brushed aside by the superpowers of ALSN.

Roycelandia and Kryozerkia hadn't wanted to send money. They offered other means of aid though, but they weren't accepted by Talematros. Now, as the conflict worsens, Kryozerkia and Roycelandia, along with Kutou-koku and Brycovia - the four regional superpoers- are deciding how to deal with this.

Farflorin took mattes into its own hands and sent in troops to assist with peacekeeping. Following suit, Roycelandia took the chance to do the same thing. However, this didn't go over well with Talematros, who is now fit to be tied over this blatant invasion of its land.

Kryozerkia hasn't actually sent in forces, but it offered Talematros the chance to have peace if it makes use of its junior fleet. The offered was put on the back burner.

Meanwhile, there are secret meetings being held between Kryozerkia and Roycelandia on how to deal with this. Embargos and sanctions were openly suggested. A naval blockade is on the agenda...

In a surprising move, Farflorin which is geographically close to Talematros - re: neighbour - took matters into their own hands by invading Clearwafer, following border issues with Clearwaferian workers who have work visas in Farflorin. In a show of force, Roycelandia endorsed this move by Farflorin and joined them in Talematrian lands.

There was much outrage on the part of Talematros and it appeared that war would be an option. Lukcily after a display of militaristic might and threats, Farflorin and Roycelandia backed down, with Kryozerkia ready to impost economic restrictions on Talematros if it can't address the dangerous instability of Clearwafer. But, for now, we're letting Talematros deal with it on their own. It appears that they may in the future allow foreign help...

Alliances

While ALSN itself is an alliance, the members in the alliance are in alliances of their own.

One of the more notable ones is NATO, whom Kryozerkia belongs to.

Another one is Commonwealth of Nations, which has Roycelandia as an member.

Generally, due to the democratic nature of many of the members of ALSN, there are many allies on our side.

Enemies

There is almost always someone who doesn't like you...

In our case, some of those groups include RWC, NWO, Gatesville and a few independant nations.

The issue with Gatesville is due to their arrogance and because Farflorin went Nazi-Turncoat on them and voted against their existance in a questionable UN proposal, which had got the iModBomb.

RWC is an enemy because of Kryozerkia's membership in NATO and because Kryozerkia declared ALSN to be an ally of NATO... However, not all members of ALSN are at odds with RWC. Kutou-koku has made itself chummy with them.

NWO has its issues with NATO. They are just questionable for the time being.

This list is the most recent one for the region. If there any changes to be made, they were likely already done. This is replacing the old regional database. This is a lot easier to update and hence, easier to keep.
