The history of Adam Island. A map of the Rat Flu War follows the timeline.

First Republic

2000

October 9 - King Sebastian XIV and the Libertarian Party wins Adam Island's first national democratic election.


2001

Janurary 1 - HRH Sebastian XIV assumes the throne.

April 1 - The Adam Island Baseball League begins play.

April 15 - Proposed ban on adultery fails to pass the Adamstag.


2002

July 1 - King Sebastian XIV turns in a late vote in the IDU elections.

September 19 - The Adamstag enacts AISS 02, which announces a foriegn security policy of nuclear deterrence, and dramatic decreases in traditional forms of domestic military spending.


2003

October 9 - The Libertarian Party wins the largest pluralty in the elections and King Sebastian XIV retains the throne.


Rat Flu War

2004

early Spring - The "Rat Flu Epidemic" breaks out on the AI mainland. The deadly virus is thought to have come from rats on board a ship from Ratvipa.

June 2 - King Sebastian XIV declares a national state of emergency. An estimated 7% of mainland Adam Islanders had fatally succumbed to the "Rat Flu" since the beginning of 2004.

August 23 - HRH King Sebastian XIV dies of the Rat Flu.

August 24 - Terrorists associated with the Values Party cause the self-destruction of a thermonuclear weapon at Ft. Adam. The chain reaction destroys the entire nuclear arsenal there and the majority of the Republic army.

August 27 - Dhammadharo of the Values Party announces its restructuring as the 'Holy Reformers' and declares war on the Republic of Adam Island.

Fall - The Holy Reformers are outnumbered by Republic forces and beat back to West Rat Island.

December 9 - A faction of Neo-Royalists call a session of the Adamstag, and vote the Party as the ruling government of Adam Island. Returning legislators are blocked from entering Adam City.

end of December - The Rat Flu is estimated to have killed 15-20% of Adam Island mainlanders, with another 5% killed from nuclear fallout and war.

2005

Janurary - Feburary - Fighting between Republic and Neo-Royalist forces divide the nation. There are tens of millions of civillian and military casualties.

Feburary 3 - National Republic-aligned forces from Iconic-controlled Llama City bomb the Adamstag, destroying it. The National Republic disassociates itself from the bombers.

March 3 - Iconic terrorists destroy three power plants on North Island.

March 4-5 - The nuclear radiation destroys Adam Island's telecommunications networks. Radio, television, telephone and satellite links fail with few exceptions. Contact with the outside world is cut off.

September 7 - Republic forces push Neo-Royalists out of Adamville and Adam County in a massive battle. The National Republics commandeer Neo-Royalists engineers who had repaired communications links in Adam County.

September 9 - Contact between major AI cities is re-established.

October 9 - National Republic forces re-conquer Adam City from the Neo-Royalists.

October 11 - National Republic scientists announce development of innoculation against Rat Flu.

November - General Saguaro of the National Republic and General Eshen An of the Holy Reformers sign the Treaty of Las Adam.

2006

Janurary 4 - Neo-Royalist forces come to peace terms with the Holy Reformers.

early Spring - Radio, television and limited telephone communications come back online.

March 1 - The census estimates the population of Adam Island at the end of 2005 to be only 40% of what it was at the end of 2003.

April 22 - The last known death from Rat Flu.

May 2 - The internet and satellite communications are fully repaired. Contact with the outside world is re-established.

May 3 - National Republic, Neo-Royalist and Holy Reformer representatives sign the Treaty of Adamsburgh, which recognizes the National Republic of Adam Island as the official government of the nation, and pledge to eliminate the remaining Iconic groups in the North.
