The People's Republic of Andronistan is a large, socially progressive nation that is relatively new to the NationStates world and really only exists in a larger sense because its leaders have too much time on their hands. Its location in Gaia Minor accounts for its interesting underground cavernous landscape and environment.
Government
Andronistan's government is a libertarian democracy, which mostly emphasizes civil freedoms, privacies, and civil equality. However, it disapproves of government-controlled economic equality and military action. It is led by a large parliament of equal representation among all beliefs and backgrounds. Currently, the Parliament's focus lies in education. All citizens pay reasonably low, equal income taxes.
Economy
A market nearly free from all government interference exists in Andronistan, mostly dominated by the information technology (IT) division. Government spending is mostly concentrated on administration, education, and law & order; no funding whatsoever goes to social welfare, religion, the environment, the military, or commerce (ironically). Their currency is the And'r, represented by the "slashless A" symbol, as in "5.99Λ".
Education and Research
Andronistan's education system is well-funded to help bring up intelligent, prosperous citizens, with a long-term goal of lowering crime without force. (This has worked so far, at least for adults.) The scientific research field is also flourishing, thanks to relaxed laws with regards to embryonic cloning and the like.
