The Imperium of Ankhmet is a massive, safe nation, renowned for its complete absence of social welfare. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 1.529 billion are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."
It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, moralistic government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defence, and Education. The average income tax rate is 100%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, followed by Information Technology and Beef-Based Agriculture.
The government is attempting to impose a new national language on the public, the nation has recently been attributed to the funding of terrorist organisations, a survey of the nation’s rivers and children has shown that pesticide levels are at an all-time regional high, and an underground movement of cigarette smokers has sprung up in response to a government ban. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Ankhmet's national animal is the Dead Ewok, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Republic Credit.
Ankhmet is ranked 1st in the region and 2,624th in the world for Largest Information Technology Sector.
