Apollina Iakovakis had her career cut short at the age of twenty-five when, after World Cup 34, Starblaydia ceased competing on the world stage due to an immense regional war. In her short career she had won the Indigenous World Cup, even winning the tournament for Starblaydia after scoring two goals in the final against the Mongols of Milchama - but only after the team had sorted out a way to fit her, Kili Izretar and Keztarr Mahezihim across the forward parts of the Starblaydi diamond.
After her playing career, she was one of the dedicated team of ex-players and coaches in Starblaydia who kept alive the dream of a national team. Ten years after 'retirement', for her determined coaching role, she became the first female to coach a team other than the Women's national side when she coached the Starblaydia Under-21s in the Inaugural Di Bradini Cup and the first U-21 International Justantina Cup. In both tournaments Starblaydia finished in Third Place, after losing their Semi-Final matches (to Kura-Pelland and Candelaria And Marquez respectively) and continued a somewhat-unwanted tradition of Starblaydia finishing Third in Under-21 tournaments.
