The Arcadian Federation is a group of planets united under a constitution spanning 12 solar systems and 9 habitable worlds.

History

Arcadians are descendents of American and Germans who escaped the planet know as Earth after losing the Third World War.

Around year 3020, two large groups had formed out of the many nations of the planet. The Alliance of the west and the Coalition of the east always held a certain amount of hostility toward each other, when they finally acted upon it they started the third world war. The Third World War lasted 100 years in a stalemate until the Coalition of the east finally got the upper hand. Sensing the end was near the Alliance build three sleeper ships and named them after their patron nations, the Liberty, Rhineland, and Britannia were the last hope for the Alliance. On June 6th the Coalition launched a final attack on the Alliance stronghold of Manhattan. During the attack the three sleeper ships were undergoing their final pre-launch preparations and commanders used the last seven nuclear weapons in a vain attempt to stave off the enemy forces. The desperate act paid off and the lucky few who could fit on the ships broke orbit shortly after.

The ships took 10,000 years to reach a far off system that they considered habitable, however during the long transit the ship Britannia experienced engine troubles and never made it to the destination. When the sleeper ships reached the planet of Aeo the colonists decided to put aside their differences and found a new nation.

Culture

Arcadians are often considered intrepid and maverick by other sentient peoples. Arcadians live to defy the odds and this sense of immortality is visible in the common Arcadian tradition of cremating the dead and compressing their ash into synthetic diamonds.

The Arcadians learned their lesson after losing the Third World War, and have dedicated themselves to ideals of peace and freedom for all. However this does not stop Arcadians from having a military or a large arms manufacturing economy.

Arcadians are a sentimental breed, and when separated from their home world become sentimental at the sight of Arcadian treats like the sweet ryshcate pastry or a bottle of Arcadian Whiskey. There was an Arcadian sect known as the Purists, whom forbade marriage with anyone from outside a person’s heritage (an American descendant couldn’t marry a German descendant). Marrying someone from outside one’s ancestry would result in being shunned by one's fellow Purist. It is an Arcadian custom for husbands-to-be to have large bachelor parties with their friends.

Family is held in high respect on Arcadia. It is considered most dishonorable to involve innocent family members in a quarrel held with one family member.
