The Holy Meritocratic Republic of Argyres is located in the southern area of The New Meritocracy, bordered to the north and east by its close ally, Eli. As would be expected of a country of its considerable size, Argyres contains a wide variety of terrain and climates, though it is most famous for its coastal regions. Though well-respected by its fellow residents of The New Meritocracy, it has been racked by political dissension and civil war in recent years.

The capital of Argyres is Adelphia, a model of the capital of Old Argyres, Delphi. Within its limits live approximately 25 million Argyris, but it is more noted for the Royal Palace, residence of the monarch, and the other seats of government, including the Presidential Palace and the Parliament. Adelphia is also the largest port in Argyres, and is home to a major naval base. It was from Adelphia that the great armada against the Carath was launched
