The following is a detailed report on the armed forces of MFUSR. It was compiled by UN reporters in conjunction with MFUSR's government.

Requirements

All males and females are required to sign up for MFUSR's military at the age of 16. During times of war, these 16 year olds are sent to training camps right away. However, citizens are given the option to finish education until they are 18 years of age during times of peace. An overwhelming amount of students choose to finish their studies. However, all citizens of MFUSR, excluding the physically and mentally disabled, will serve two years in the armed forces once they are 16 or 18. Studies show that most of MFUSR's students accept this requirement willingly and see it as yet another positive educational experience. That is what the military hopes to create: MFUSR's goal is not to make killing machines, but strong and inter-dependent citizens who fight for their ideals.

Soldiers in the military are forbidden to practice any form of religion. This policy was implemented to ease tensions among other foreign powers. If soldiers of a specific faith set foot on foreign soil, the host nation (or target) would make accusations of a crusade or religiously-motivated conflict. In order to disarm critics of these claims, MFUSR's military is absolutely secular. There are no chaplains, religious artifacts, or even burial services for the dead. Soldiers who enter the military with a religious background are told not to practice their faith until they are discharged. Soldiers who are caught acting in a religious manner are disciplined moderately, but are never ejected from the military. (Before, soldiers would pray simply to relieve themselves of military service).

The Soldier

The average soldier is 22 years old. Despite the fact that a large portion of MFUSR's army is made up of conscripted teens, there are many citizens who make their careers as soldiers due to the nice salary, living conditions, and education opportunities. The standard soldier serves in an infantry division. He or she is issued a dress uniform, (a crimson hat, dress shirt, pants/skirt, and boots), battle suit (sage kevlar helmet, kevlar vest, fatigues, and black boots), and a MF-071 battle rifle (7.62 caliber black rifle; 30 round clips; semi-auto and auto fire). Other soldiers serve in tank battalions, naval fleets, and air sqaudrons. They are equipped accordingly. MFUSR's large military budget has payed off. Soldier casualties are the lowest in the region due to superior training, equipment, and medical technology.

Weaponry

Weapons Designation

MFUSR's government uses a complex and somewhat chaotic structure to classify its weaponry. All weapons, regardless of weight, type, ammo capacity, etc. are all put into rather broad categories. Each weapon is given a two letter code representing the category, followed by a number representing the placement of it within the category. For example, the 16th pistol that was added to the 'side arm' category becomes known as 'SA-16'. There are many criticisms of this system. These qualms arise mainly because all weapons are numbered in chronological order, rather than being numbered based on caliber or other qualifiers.

A list of weapon designations
OR - Stands for 'Old Reign'. Used to classify any weapon before the 1914 revolution.
SA - Stands for 'Side Arm'. Denotes any weapon that can be used with one hand, such as a pistol or knife.
AW - Means 'Assault Weapon'. Used for any firearm with a short range. One of the broadest categories, as it includes shotguns, submachine guns, machine guns, flamethrowers, and other firearms.
BR - Stands for 'Battle Rifle'. Used for any form of rifle that does not qualify as an assault weapon, such as sniper rifles and other longer-range firearms.
EX - Stands for 'Explosive'. Designates any weapon with explosive capabilities, such as RPGs, artillery, and hand held grenades.

MFUSR has a long history of small arms and man portable weapons. The following rifles, pistols, and other hand held weapons were all developed before the revolution in 1914, but were used on the battlefield for some time afterward. In total, there are 28 weapons that were given the designation of OR. The following are a few of the most famous OR weapons.

OR-17 Rifle

The weapon that used to be known as 'The Eagle' has a new designation of OR-17 by MFUSR's government. It was originally created in 1889, and was valued for its durability. The OR-17 saw service until 1923.

OR-21 Revolver

This revolver was known as the 'Stein' before it was given the designation of OR-21. It was created by the famous gunsmith, Herschel Rozenstein in 1904. It was powerful, but rather limited with a 5 bullet capacity. It was replaced in 1917.

SA

The following are various side arms that were developed after 1914 by MFUSR's new government. Most side arms were created to fufill the role of support and last-resort situations, but a few were reliable enough to be used as primary weapons. MFUSR's arsenal includes 79 SA weapons. Some of the most famous are listed below.

SA-00 Combat Sabre

-Originally smithed by the Castiglione Smith Works. Mass produced in the modern era by COMET.
The SA-00 Combat Sabre was the first weapon to be designated under the new category. It was issued to all officers for use in close comat. It is still issued today, but serves a much more ceremonial purpose. It is rarely carried into battle, but there are still reports of it being used in desperate situations.

SA-13 Revolver

-Developed by Purple Heart Industries
The SA-13 (Side Arm no. 13) Revolver was invented in the country of Hamboniastion in 1914, right at the start of the revolt. The pistol was durable, inexpensive, and very powerful. However, Purple Heart Industries lost their bid for a government weapons contract to Metal Storm Incorporated (A rival weapons developer). The government dismissed six-shooters as behind the times, and made a contract with Metal Storm for 9 round clip pistols. In 1916, when MFUSR invaded Hamboniastion in its campaign of unification, Purple Heart sold their SA-13s to MFUSR at a reduced cost. The SA-13 was taken out of service in 1931. However, Purple Heart Industries has not been regulated by MFUSR since the unification as a thanks for its support.

SA-74

Developed in 2002, the SA-74s were shipped straight from Hamboniastion to MFUSR's armories. Purple Heart Industries extended its monopoly over the side arms industry with the issuing of its highly effective new side arm. Field reports are overwhelmingly favorable for the SA-74. As of 2004, 67% percent of MFUSR's standard infantry were equipped with the pistol, as the government works to replace the oudated Metal Storm SA-59s.

AW

MFUSR's Assault Weapons category is rather broad, and includes a variety of tools of destruction. Assault Weapons are used in primarilly urban envrionments, where range is overshadowed by the needs of rate of fire and stopping power. AWs are very popular in dealing with the insurgencies in MFUR's conquered regions. MFUSR's arsenal includes 114 AWs.

BR

Battle Rifles are not as popular in MFUSR's forces as explosive and assault weapons. Historically, warfare on the highly populated continent of Tyr has been restricted to the sprawling metropolises that cover the land. However, there are situations where longer range and more accurate firearms are required. MFUSR has 17 different BR weapons in its arsenal.

EX

MFUSR was founded during the dawn of mechanized warfare. As a result, MFUSR has always seen a value in high power weapons capable or penetrating vehicle armor, as well as artillery suitable for destruction on a large scale. MFUSR has a variety of EX cannons, grenades, missles, and shells: 254 to be exact.

Foreign Policy

MFUSR is a militarily-ambitious nation. It currently occupies the nations of Hamboniastion, Altrufal, and Calvinastion. While it does not control these territories directly, it reaps a tremendous profit off of them. Recently, Altrufal was named as MFUSR's official UN District. All of MFUSR's ministers and ambassadors reside in this small territory.

Because of this occupation, MFUSR is in a constant state of war with insurgents and rebels in these nations. However, MFUSR has not had to to declare any major combat operations in these countries during the last 3 years. Attacks are weak and far in-between. Only the most radical of citizens dare to stand up to the army.

Because of the lack of destruction, death, and setbacks, MFUSR's public opinion of warfare is very high. MFUSR has never been attacked by a foreign force on their own soil either, so its citizens have never really felt the hardships of combat.
