A Brief History

The Island of Artitsa is roughly the size of modern day China. The island was settled in 1804 by the British, who later discovered that in fact, Slavic people had inhabited the North Eastern portion of the island. The British, who were mostly of English and Scotish decent claimed the southern Portion, seperated by the Interior mountain ranges.

A number of years later, a large group of Irish Immigrants arrived and settled the western portion of Artitsa. They had left to avoid British dominance, only to discover the British contingent to their South East. For the most part, each group lived peacefully; The island was massive with great steppes, forests, mountains, and a small desert. The Irish group established the cities of Artisagrad, Galway, Arklow, Bantry, and Overshire. Each had massive fishing and agricultural industries, as the ground was fertile and virgin. Much game surrounded the area, and cattle were discovered further south, where Tuam was established.

The Russians had established themselves centuries before in the mountains; Kamskgrad had become a bustling mining town, shipping coal to the motherland. Further to the east, a fishing town, with a prominant shipwright lay Vandiskgrad. Hamdervansk and Saratov were established further south, with the former laying on the coastline of the Green Sea nestled between Three Mountain peaks. The latter, Saratov was in open plains. To the west lay a small mountain range and the interior desert. Eventually Vanuk was created on the edge of this Desert, the last Oasis before the long trek south. By the time the British had arrived, the towns of Blanistov, Bol'n, Fanskgrad, Askovo, and Borzya had poppped up and prospered.

The British had established several towns of their own; Gavinhood, Gilbenshire, Vampton, Scocts, Banton, Altunshire, Halington, Shiston, Ash-Pierre (Had some French Colonists), and Breeze. These towns rapidly industralized with their Home Country, while the two other nationalities continued their respective agricultural and resource extraction economies.

Modern Artitsa

The Hives

When the Smoke cleared and Artitsa emerged, its population had skyrocketed. The Major cities had become Hives; great masses of land dominated by large gothic spires. Factories that belched smog into the air. Batteries of air-defense cannons point ominiously into the blackened sky. Below the people go about their business. These jungles of steel, cement, plaster, ceramics, and composites are usually surrounded by a massive defensive wall, almost a kilometer in height. Great gargoyles line the tops, along with nests of anti-tank batteries. Giant gatehouses sit tactically along highways. To qualify as a Hive, a city must have a minimum population of 100 Million; Although they are usually far larger than this.

Government Structure

Crown Prince

27 years of age, the Crown Prince was born into a life of Aristocracy. He has lived through the wars with The Macabees, Bisons, Belem, Fluffywuffy, Nianacio, Roach Busters, Sigma Octavius, Geforce 4, and Celack. Needless to say, The Crown Prince had seen much conflict, leading many of Artitsa's armies from the front. His actual name is Joseph Diorovich; standing 6'5" and 271lbs, he is by no small measure a diminuative man.

His role within Artitsan Politics up into now has been somewhat minimal and was more of a figurehead than anything else. With Artitsa's entry into Gholgoth, and Artitsa's decline from the light of 'good' he has stepped up. Often considered a polite gentlemen, the Crown Prince is well known for his sword play.

President Dimitri Milosavji

The man who replaced Vladimir Overdanski after his embarrassing arrest for Crimes against Humanity; Dmitri Milosvaji introduced and developed the 'Artitsan Technocracy'. Has spearheaded new alliances, and forged new friendships. Halfway though his third term, he reopened the Foreign Affairs Office. 46 Years of age. Term expires in two years; No longer edigable for Presidancy at 52 years.

Minister Boris O'Conner

Foreign Minister of Artitsa; A well known Womanizer, forged a Non-Aggression pact with Iuthia. Standing 6'7" and 290lb, it would seem the Artitsan Ministry is exclusively for tall individuals. Boris' traditional attire is a massive cloak of bear fur and decrative armour. Only the Iuthians have seen him otherwise in more personal attire. 54 Years of Age.

Key Military Figures

The Lord Admiral

The Lord Admiral Sergi Putamov controls the Artitsan Navy, and is their representative to the Crown Prince during Inner Table meetings. Previously, Putamov was the Commander of an Artitsan Super Dreadnought, and also headed development of the SSN-991 Hunter-Killer Submarine produced jointly between HNI and VNY. Putamov is often considered out of shape by the other members of the Inner Table.

The Lord General

The Lord General Norman D'Arcy heads up the Artitsan Ground Forces, excluding SARTF which have their own seperate representative along with OASIS. D'Arcy is a bright gentlemen, competent and generally well spoken. At the age of 56, he has kept in supreme shape.

The Lord Marshall

Lord Marshall Simon Beautrix of the Artitsan Airforce is not considered the brightest member of the Inner Table. Often very quiet at meetings, the Airforce has seemingly suffered under his guidance. The Crown Prince grows annoyed with him daily.

The 4th Duke of Aarroka

A Mysterious and controlling figure in the Frozen Central Mountains, he administrates a small military city which includes SARTF training areas and a military prison. Other, far nastier secrets are hidden within these mountains, and it is the Duke of Aarrocka's duty to watch over them.

Field Marshall Krocop

Stands 7'1", and weighs in at 275lbs. Earned his officer status in defense of Allanea. Became a Captain during the war with Bisons/Fluffywuffy/Geforce4. Several years later, after surviving the conflict against Roach Busters and The Generic Empire, he was promoted to Colonel. After recieving several medals and accolades for his efforts therein, he was gifted with the Prince's Rune Sabre, a long detailed and intricate Cutlass, eminating a biting coldness when striking opponents. The sword was rumoured to have been forged in the Ice Volcanos of the Central Mountains.

Krocop was then allowed to assume colonial duty in Gholgoth, watching over the territory there, until his defense forces ran into Atlantian tribes and their futuristic breathern. With the closing of those hostilities and conflict, Krocop was called back to frontline duty, where he was eventually promoted all the way to Field Marshall.

Artitsan Army

The Artitsan Army is divided into 9 legions, each consisting of three corps. These legions tend to be completely autonomous, providing their own aircover and logistics, independant of any other unit outside the legion. Each legion is commanded by a Field Marshall. Field Marshall Krocop being one of the most famous of said commanders, leading the Legios I into battle.

At the basic level of troop, lies the fireteam, consisting of an eight man squad; Six of which would be equiped with the Lee-Nordenfeldt Rifle No. 8, or if an older unit, the AN-98 assault rifle. One member carries a sniper rifle such as the SVD, while another carries a squad support weapon. Every member of the squad carries an RPG-32 disposible anti-tank system. There are also dedicated tank-hunter teams, fire support teams, Air Defense teams with MANPADs, etc.

Each Legion is made up of three corps, each of which has 5 Divisions consisting of 21,000 soldiers (Double when considering support). Simple math dictates each Legion fielding 315,000 combat troops. Each Division is allocated roughly 1400 VOLK II IFV's; 700 M18A2 Main Battletanks; 1,400 'Mule' 5 ton trucks; 2,100 2 Ton trucks; 2,150 AHED light vehicles of various types; 800 Skyhawk SAM platforms; 400 'Red Eye' Mobile Theatre High-Energy Laser Platform; 400 'Scrumhalf' Acquistion and Control Vehicle; 325 Dublin-600 SAM batteries and their accompanying RADAR systems. Artillery is provided by roughly 2,500 MSPAV 152mm Mk II's; 1,200 MSPAV 203mm MkIV's; 675 SPGP122 (122mm); 460 'Hail' HMLRS; 690 'Granite' MLRs; Thousands of Attack Helicopters, Transport Helicopters, and Logistics Helicoptors are attached organically to each division for air support. At the Corps level, air units are attached.

Obviously, at such a huge size the logistics network is highly sophisticated, integrated and refined for effeciency. The C&C structure is also fairly well designed due to the communications and networking system built into the M-180 combat systems that the troops use in the field.

I Legios is known as the Veteran Legion, composed entirely of battle hardened veterans. For the most part, this legion remains within Artitsa, unless specifically needed.

Rugby Union is the National Sport of Artitsa, followed by Rugby Sevens, Rugby League, American Football, Ice Hockey, and Soccer (Football)

Every Hive has their own professional rugby club, in which the average salary per player is $450,000. Currently first in the Hive League (Called The Corrisgrandia League) are the Galway Guardians Rugby Football Club (GGRFC), with Arklow RFC close behind. Smaller cities have their own league, and only two are presently good enough and wealthy enough to be a part of the Corrisgrandia League. (Those two being Athlone and Borzya)
