A Brief History

The Island of Artitsa is roughly the size of modern day China. The island was settled in 1804 by the British, who later discovered that in fact, Slavic people had inhabited the North Eastern portion of the island. The British, who were mostly of English and Scotish decent claimed the southern Portion, seperated by the Interior mountain ranges.

A number of years later, a large group of Irish Immigrants arrived and settled the western portion of Artitsa. They had left to avoid British dominance, only to discover the British contingent to their South East. For the most part, each group lived peacefully; The island was massive with great steppes, forests, mountains, and a small desert. The Irish group established the cities of Artisagrad, Galway, Arklow, Bantry, and Overshire. Each had massive fishing and agricultural industries, as the ground was fertile and virgin. Much game surrounded the area, and cattle were discovered further south, where Tuam was established.

The Russians had established themselves centuries before in the mountains; Kamskgrad had become a bustling mining town, shipping coal to the motherland. Further to the east, a fishing town, with a prominant shipwright lay Vandiskgrad. Hamdervansk and Saratov were established further south, with the former laying on the coastline of the Green Sea nestled between Three Mountain peaks. The latter, Saratov was in open plains. To the west lay a small mountain range and the interior desert. Eventually Vanuk was created on the edge of this Desert, the last Oasis before the long trek south. By the time the British had arrived, the towns of Blanistov, Bol'n, Fanskgrad, Askovo, and Borzya had poppped up and prospered.

The British had established several towns of their own; Gavinhood, Gilbenshire, Vampton, Scocts, Banton, Altunshire, Halington, Shiston, Ash-Pierre (Had some French Colonists), and Breeze. These towns rapidly industralized with their Home Country, while the two other nationalities continued their respective agricultural and resource extraction economies.

Modern Artitsa

The Hives

When the Smoke cleared and Artitsa emerged, its population had skyrocketed. The Major cities had become Hives; great masses of land dominated by large gothic spires. Factories that belched smog into the air. Batteries of air-defense cannons point ominiously into the blackened sky. Below the people go about their business. These jungles of steel, cement, plaster, ceramics, and composites are usually surrounded by a massive defensive wall, almost a kilometer in height. Great gargoyles line the tops, along with nests of anti-tank batteries. Giant gatehouses sit tactically along highways. To qualify as a Hive, a city must have a minimum population of 100 Million; Although they are usually far larger than this.
