The Democratic Republic of Axinon (commonly known as Axinon) is a country of about 1.7 billion people located in Inon. This nation is notable for its centrist stances on most social issues, its unique voting method, and its military emplacement, The Citadel.

Axinonian History, Founding Thru Independence

Axinon was first colonized by Great Brittan in the year 1610 AD. It was located in the area of the world derisively called “The Middle of Everywhere” by its occupiers, and at first Axinon did not amount to much. In spite of vast natural recourses, Axinon did not become self sufficient until around 1700 AD. Axinon continued on like a typical British colony (like Canada) until the year 1793 AD. It was that year that the Extrilla Conference, with representatives from the Axinon Territory, the Dreedan Territory, the Riveaou/Exigorn Territory and the AlphSpigel Territory met in Extrilla City, capital of the Axinon Territory. It was there that Mark Grangerford, Nathan Washington, Lethon Drelander and Martian Von Bismarck signed the “Dreedan Declaration of Independence.” The British immediately responded with military force, but the huge size of the Middle of Everywhere proved too great for Brittan to control by force, and in 1794 Great Brittan recognized the independence of Dreedan.

The next step toward Axinonian independence occurred in 1823. It was then that Axinonian nationalism flared up. The Second Extrilla Conference ensued, and it was there that a coalition of influential Axinonians lead by Daniel Wilson signed the Declaration of Axinonian Autonomy. Dreedan did not care enough to take action, and Axinon gained independence without firing a shot.

Axinonian History, Indipendence through the McConnel Administration

Axinon quickly increased in power, growing to become the second richest nation in The Middle of Everywhere, with Dreedan first. Axinon was peaceful, but in 1882 their first military engagement against a Middle of Everywhere country ensued. d4s_Spigel attacked Axinon over a minor trade dispute. Launching from d4s bases in Exinon, the d4s navy attacked Rockville, then the capital of Axinon. In the Battle of Rockville harbor, the Axinonian Navy fought of the d4s navy and short-circuited any invasion attempt. Then Axinon went on the offensive, attacking the d4s colony of Exinon. Axinon quickly overran Exinon, as the d4s army was unpopular there and the Axinonians were seen as liberators. At that point, d4s sued for peace. Axinon gained control of Exinon from this conflict.

Axinon remained relatively silent in international affairs after that. In World War Two they fought on the side of the allies, and sent 2000 men to fight in Europe. The war was over before these 200 soldiers could be mobilized, and sent into combat though. While this seems like a token force, it was a full third of the Axinonian Army at the time.

In 1987, Axinon annexed Riveaou island in a treaty signed by President Lethon Wolfstien of Axinon and King Daemon IX of Riveaou. Under the treaty, Riveaou joined the Inonian States. It retained its own government, but the President of Axinon would have ultimate power over the territory.

In 1992, the Republic of Alphinon and The Kingdom of the Cool Dictator began a long and bitter war. Alphinon ultimately won, but its military and economy were utterly destroyed by the war. In the year 2000, Alphinon joined the Inonian States, with the same terms that were offered to Exinon (in 1949) and Riveaou.

In the year 2008, William McConnel was elected president of Axinon in a landslide victory. With his Blue Storm Party holding a commanding majority in the Axinonian Senate, McConnel promised to lead Axinon and all of Inon triumphantly into the 21st century

The End of Colonial Inon

In the year 2010, Leaders from Axinon, Exinon, Riveaou, and Alphinon met at the Third Extrilla Conference. In that conference, Axinonain command over the Inonian States was formally ended. The very weak Inonian Confederacy holds the territories of Inon in a loose alliance (with the exception of the rouge Glarvan). Alphinonian-Axinonian relationships have been cool at best for the last two years, but Axinon maintains close partnerships with Exinon and Riveaou.

Axinon's Government

Axinon’s Government is based on a federal system, similar to the one used by the now-defunct United States of America. The states and federal government split the power fairly evenly. The United States Bill of Rights is contained in the Axinonian Constitution almost word for word.

Axinon is a somewhat liberal nation. There are four major political parties, but the Axinonian government is relatively harmonious.

The top executive in the Axinon Government is the President. The president is elected by popular vote every four years. The president can issue Executive Orders, veto bills, use a Line-Item veto, negotiate treaties, nominate judges to the Supreme Court, and command the Axinonian armed forces. In former years, the president is also holds dictator-like power over Exinon, Alphinon, and Riveaou. This power had rarely ben used, and was formally terminated at the third Extrilla conferense.

The Axinonian Senate is the top legislative body in Axinon. It can pass bills, amend the constitution with the consent of 2/3 of the Senate and 3/5th the popular vote in a referendum, override a veto with a 2/3 vote, override a Line-Item veto by a simple majority vote, and ratify treaties and justice nominations. Senators are elected to six year terms, and 1/3 of the senators elected each two years.

The Prime Minister of The Senate is a lower executive in the Axinonian Government. He runs meetings of the Senate (a la the Vice President in the US) and is the first in line of succession. If the President is unable to perform his duties, the Prime Minister takes over his power in Axinon, although he does not get executive power over the Inonian states unless the President is unable to perform his job for a month.

Armed Conflicts in Axinon's History

The War of d4s agression d4s_Spigel attacked Axinon over a minor trade dispute.

The DMG Sattelite Crisis

Axinon launced a sattelite, whose information is classified. The sattelite crashed in DMG. After attacks from foregin powers on the facility the sattlite was stored at, Axinonian Paratroopers and Demograde Snipers got the sattlite safely to the cost, where the sattlite was removed back to Axinon via a battlecruiser. This conflict led to slightly closer relations with DMG.

The Xharn Incident The blackest moment of Axinonian Millitary history to this day. Axinon noted that Xharn's nuclear program contained irregularities. William McConnel authorized sending in special operatives to investigate. While they were able to figue out that some unknown organization was giving Xharn their nuclear technoligy, the price paid was high. One spy submarine as well as 15 of the 24 agents in Xharn at one time died. When this news broke to the Axinonian public, it caused massive unrest, and as the Presidential Election approches, threatens to get William McConnel voted out of office.

The Gilabad Intervention After receiving reports of massive human rights violations in Gilabad, Prime Minister Daniel Lawson and General Samuel Sampson began preparing the nation for war. War came less than three days later when Gilabad attacked an expeditionary force of The Beltway assigned to rescue ICLU members from the Gilabadian massacre. After brief skirmishes between the Gilabadian Air Force and the Axinonian Navy, Beltway and Gilabad negotiated a cease-fire, and Axinon complied. The resolution to this conflict is currently being negotiated in the Georgetown Conference.
