Articles of Unification

The Articles of Unity

The Parties of this Treaty,

Recalling with mutual pride the historic relationship which brought their two peoples together in a common bond of strength and mutual benefit,
Desiring to increase the security and stability between their sovereign territories and amongst shared interregional interests,
Reaffirming the continuing good relations between their governments and their respective military forces,
Acknowledging mutual security interests that can be solved only through mutual cooperation
Have agreed to the following terms:

ARTICLE I.

Clause I

In order to more effectively achieve the objective of this treaty, the parties will cooperate with one another to insure the protection of vital interests.

Clause II

To achieve this end the regional government located in the protecterate nation will be permitted total independence from laws passed in the parent nation, except in matters of national security for both the regional and national governments.

Clause III

The protecterate will accept a permanent military presence by the parent nation to protect the national security of the protecterate from foriegn attack and to secure economic and military interests in the region of the parent government.

ARTICLE II.

Clause I

The parties, through their foreign representatives or ministers, will consult together regarding the implementation of this treaty and whenever in the opinion of either of them the territorial integrity, political independence or security of either of the parties is threatened by external armed attack.

Clause II

If both parties agree that the occasion merits increased political presence by the parent nation, where increased presence refers to a temporary shut down of the regional government and military control over the region, it shall be permitted under the Articles to be done.

ARTICLE III.

Clause I

Each party recognizes that an armed attack on either of the parties would be dangerous to its own peace and safety and declares that it would act to meet the common dangers in accordance with its constitutional processes.

ARTICLE IV.

Clause I

For purposes of ARTICLE III, an armed attack on either of the parties is deemed to include an armed attack on the metropolitan territory of either of the parties, its armed forces, public vessels or aircraft in either region.

ARTICLE V.

Clause I

The parties agree to cooperate together militarily to advance and continuate the shared mutual interests enjoyed by each government and it's peoples, through the extensive participation in joint military exercises and operations.

Clause II

In order to foster mutual compassion, free trade and free travel will be established between the protecterate and the parent nation unless both parties agree to a temporary suspension of ARTICLE V. The conditions of this clause are further dicusses in ARTICLES VI-IX

ARTICLE VI

Clause 1: Businesses shall be given tax incentives when operating within or dealing with the partner-nation; where a partner-nation is defined as a confirmed signatory participant to the articles and text herein.

Clause 2: The tax incentives of Clause 1 shall be defined as a reduction of extant tarrifs, commercial or sales taxation within the partner-nation, or an economically favorable tax return.

Clause 3: The government of the partner-nation shall cooperate with that of parent-nation with the overall intent of developing and improving the partner-nation's economic infrastructure and industries.

Clause 4: Businesses within the partner-nation which do not fulfill minimal economic standards set by the Financial Ministry may be liquidated by the parent-nation in order to fulfill the goals of the partner-nation's economic autocracy and sustainability.

ARTICLE VII

Clause 1: The partner-nation shall allow parent-nation citizens entry to the nation without the requirement of a visa.

Clause 2: National transportation and communications shall extend, where possible and economically viable, into the partner-nation with the intention of increased national and commercial trade activity.

ARTICLE VIII

Clause 1: The partner-nation and the parent-nation shall enter into a mutual right-of-passage act for friendly military units in order to achieve the goals of ARTICLES I-IV.

ARTICLE IX

Clause 1: The partner-nation shall have the annual option of terminating the economic clauses of this treaty by petitioning the parent government for approval through granting of an Economic Sustainability Status to the partner-nation.

Clause 2: An Economic Sustainability Status is broadly defined by the Foreign Ministry's Department of National Trade, and necessitates acceptance of improved or sufficient economic viability both currently and for the foreseeable future.

ARTICLE X

This treaty shall be ratified by the Kingdom of Hispania and the Republic of the Azores Islands in accordance with their respective constitutional processes and will come into force when instruments of ratification thereof have been exchanged by them.
