The Borg collective of BLACKGRUE is a cold-hearted Borg nation borne from a splinter group of the borg collective. Seeing many other nations both more advanced and more powerful then themselves (beginning with the East Coast Federation), they begain in an un-borglike manuver to increase their individuality and research capibilities. Currently the collective is one of the most feared and respected of any FT nation it's size.
Technological summery
Industrial capabilities
The Collective has an enormous industrial capability for it's size because of it's use of massive matter replicator systems. They not only allow extrodinarily quick construction but they allow most resorces to be interchangable.
Power generation
Until recently, the collective was forced to use bulky and ineficient singularity generators. The move to stable Omega molocule generators (via processing the molocules through harmonic resonance chambers) allow for MASSIVE power generation in a 2 cubic meter space. 1 stable omega molocule generator produces 10 tetrajoules of energy, although most of the time that power remains unused.
Starship defences
The collective is the leading pioneer in adaptive shielding (which eventually allows thier ships to become immune to the vast majority of weapon types after a certain level of encounter), auto regeneration, and corbomite based deflector screens (which reflect many weapons back to their origen of fire)
Starship weapons
The collective's take on weaponry is that if you can disable the ship without killing the people aboard then you can assimilate it later. The weaponry tends to be either less-powerful (Evidenced by laser-based cutting beams, and plasma and gravitonic based torpeados) or very unusual (evidenced by ablative implosion, green-storm, and auto-assimilation cannons). Recently though there are several "Heavy support" weapons with massive amounts of firepower being constructed.
System defence
All Collective systems are encased in an Artificial nebula consisting of Metaphasic and Tetrion particles as well as a number of gasses that reduce visibility. The collective can easily tune their sensors to cut out the interference as it does not require any light-speed sensors or any optical devices to aim their weapons. Surrounding most collective planets, is a permenantly enabled corbomite reflection screen on top of adaptive planitary shields.
Detailed history
Early years
Early on they collective within the cerulian nebula laied as low a profile as possible. Untill they stumbled across Sigma Octumus and initiated an unsuccsessful first contact with the East Coast Federation. A few border skirmishes showed the collective was severely outnumbered and outgunned. The first battle won was an assimilation of a small scoutship. It was returened and an alliance was born from the ashes of war.
The annexation of Mantika
The first in a string of three protectorates that the collective took in was the Nomadic Peoples of Mantika. Unfortunately for them, they comitted a diplomatic foux pas in insulting a Borg queenand was promptly assimilated. Shortly thereafter, East coast federation gave the collective 160 million in unwanted population.
The Galactic empire
Joining GE was perhaps the most proud moment in collective history, shortly thereafter a spy from The Federal Union was discovered and he was promptly fired upon with IGNORE weapons. This is also where they met Nanotech army and Unified Sith who are two of the collective's most trusted allies to date.
Issues with Dratheria
Two more protectorates were taken in. Dratheria and Larit Sen. Dratheria employed shrewd negotiators and used their agreement to drag the collective to do their dirty work. From simple summets, to wars. Untill finally they managed to anger Chronesia and called the collective to defend against the inevitable attack.
Dratheria's downfall
The defence was unwinnable until Unified Sith came up with a solution. A quick surrender later and now Dratheria is no longer a threat. Part of the terms included a retreat deep within Galactic Empire territory.
Asimilation wars
After the war, negotiators from Chronesia and the collective met. Apperenly, the collective fufilled one of Chronesia's religious prophacies, With Chronesia's help, the collective assimilated 200 different star systems and the entire nation of Ominrio. This also saw the collective's joining of the Alliance of Norrath and the Grand dominion axis
The Dark Empire
For nearly 20 (ns) years after the assimilation wars ended, the collective withdrew from international politics. It lie in wait simply building its fleet awaiting the next cycle of mass assimilation. Eventually they would leave the Alliance of Norrath to side with GE in a war, the massive fleet numbers they've built up would be insanely useful.
Temporal Anomoly
Unexpectedly, a temporal experement wracked the collective causing it to fold their entire civilization into 50 NS years into the future. THey quickly assimilated their old territory back and moved into a period of isolation to consider their next move.
