The Beanworld is a small nation; its people are aborigines who are only dimly aware that anyone lives outside the borders of their nation. The Beanworld is part of the BookCrossing region.
Chow is both the currency and food of the Beans, and they must routinely raid the Hoi Polloi to steal enough chow for them to survive. Although the Hoi Polloi don't willingly hand over the chow, the Beans do provide an exchange - they leave a sprout-butt (provided by Gran'Ma'Pa) after a raid. The Hoi Polloi sing to the sprout-butt until it bursts with joy and turns into chow. Thus is the cycle of life in the Beanworld complete.
So far, the leaders have made the following decisions:
- Make voting mandatory! Decisions are made by the leader with the input of all citizens.
- Outlaw gambling, to protect children and adults alike. Gambling is a vice of the greedy Hoi Polloi, leave it with them.
Yes, this all seems very strange and silly, and it is. I can't claim credit for originating any of these ideas or names, it all comes from my favorite but defunct comic book, Tales of the Beanworld. Here's a good source of Beanworld information on the web.
