Introduction
History
The Dominion of Bolsher was founded in 1824 by Sir James Grankilli. Originally an autocracy ruled by a council of noblemen, the country gradually became a democracy, as first nobles, then ordinary citizens, gained the right to vote for council members. By 1912, the council was abolished, and a new Constitution was written to reform the government so that anyone was eligible to run for office. In 1919, after the end of World War I, a Senate was established as the legislative body of the government. The following year, the first Supreme Minister and Senate were popularly elected. The current Supreme Minister, John Deddingham, was elected in 2000.
