The Creation of Borderstan

The Disputed Territories of Borderstan is the bi-product of three decades of war and conflict between the two tribes of Eithero and Ahbidahbot, and was established after the smaller Innamiddel tribes had had enough of being caught in the crossfire of the constant fighting. Just recently, the situation has stabilized, and the territory of Borderstan has remained relatively the same for long enough for it to be officially recognized by several countries as a legitimate nation.

However, the Eithero and the Ahbidahbot have never stopped fighting, and so the Innamiddel of Borderstan have had to adjust to the ever-fluctuating boundary lines. Two weeks previous to this article's publication, the strategically important settlement of Innabahdplase awoke to find that it had suddenly fallen outside the boundaries of Borderstan overnight(it was restored within Borderstan the following day). This incident has caused the First Shiek of Borderstan, Ahdis Eezhard, to further concentrate his efforts on fortifying the borders of Borderstan, and repelling the daily assaults made by the two tribes.

International Affairs

Recently, Borderstanian officials have launched an effort to become more friendly with the countries in its region - an effort which will be breaking their traditional hostile Isolationist philosophy. This 'friendliness' is due mainly to the uncertain future of Borderstan, and Ahdis Eezhard's modernistic ideals. In addition to these public changes, other internal attempts at modernization have been enacted, and despite resistance by conservative Borderstanians, Eezhard is not a man to be refused. He has lifted the clothing restrictions that have been in place for centuries, opened up the world to idea from the outside(Barbaric) world, and is setting the stage for an era of industrial development.

Internal Affairs

His policies, controversial at the least, has gained him enemies in high places. The Headman of the Ahbidabot, Akhil Demahl, opposes the changes made by the Borderstanian Government, and has called for a change of leadership. Demahl is one of the few dissenters in Borderstan to be able to voice his opinions without fear of imprisonment and Censure due to his influence over the Ahbidabot living in Borderstan.

The government of Borderstan is looking to end the violence which erupts throughout the country by organizing the tribes against a common enemy; the rest of the world.

It is commonly accepted by other nations that whenever the Borderstanee Government takes an active position in a controversial matter, it probably is acting with the interests of chaos, warfare, and utter bad taste in mind. If threatened, the populace usually opens its ears for calls for holy war, either government sanctioned or locally encouraged, and comply eagerly.

Borderstan's Demise

Borderstan has since vanished, after an enourmous earthquake rocked the region, and caused the country to declare holy war upon itself. The entire population than massacred itself, and the ten or twenty survivors then set off strategically placed nuclear warheads, which flattened the country. Where Borderstan once was, radioactive wasteland now sizzles. In Death as in Life, Borderstan never did anything remotely civic-minded or environmentally sound. Even as it died, it caused great strife. May it Rest in War, Inshallah!
