History
The Boreal Protectorate was colonized by the Supreme Imperium of Reformentia upon the Supreme Imperium's growth to a population size approaching 800 million. It was founded as a satellite nation on the Northwestern border of the Crowbar Gulf (directly north of Reformentia) both to expand the geographic sphere of influence of the Supreme Imperium and to provide for a defense in depth against any possible future security threat to the Imperium proper originating from the north.
Government
The governance of daily domestic affairs within the protectorate is overseen by the Protectorate Colonial Council, which acts as the local proxy for the Reformentian Supreme Governing Council. The Colonial Council is locally elected and afforded a high degree of autonomy in all matters purely domestic to the Protectorate but in international affairs and any issues impacting national security concerns they are subordinate to directives of the Imperium. For this reason Protectorate citizens are given voting rights in elections for Supreme Council positions within the Imperium with their votes being weighted at 1/2 the vote of a resident citizen of the Supreme Imperium proper.
Military
The Protectorate and the Supreme Imperium share a common and completely integrated military command structure under the Reformentian banner, established as such at the very inception of the colony... as is the case with all Imperial colonial protectorates, collectively known as the Imperial Coalition.
