Breton is the provincial capital and largest city in Haligonia and has Kelssek's ninth-largest metropolitan area with a city centre population of 3.3 million and a metropolitan population of 11,455,761 (2004 census) which includes the cities of Dartmouth, Cole Harbour, Bedford, Eastern Passage and Timberlea. Breton's harbour is a major seaport and the economic centre of the province of Haligonia, as well as a base for the South Fleet of the Kelssek Forces Maritime Command.

Breton is nicknamed Emerald City, derived from the province of Haligonia's official slogan labelling itself "The Emerald Province". The city is also home to Halifax University, one of Kelssek's top higher education institutions.

Transportation

The city is well-served by a public transportation system run by the city government through the Breton Metro Transit Company, which operates trains, buses and ferries. It is a regional hub for inter-city rail, served by passenger and cargo services of Kelssekian Pacific Railway and VIA Rail.

Emerald Gateway International Airport is Breton's main airport and served 33 million passengers in 2005. It is a hub for Kelssek Pacific Airlines.
