Government

The Government of The Grand Dutchy of Brockmann is a very concervative almost Fascist. The Parliment is elected by the people, most are noble men.

The Duke of the grand dutchy is a family affair with the Brockmann family, who has been in power since the Civil War more then 200 years before. The Duke controls the armed forces, aswell as most decisions, every 2 years he is forced by the constitution to either find new advisors for advisors who are forced out of office or retire. Or he can have them stay, depending on the aproval rating of the advisor to the Parliment.

For example, if the advisor has a high aproval rating with the Parliment, then the Duke would think about reasigning him. But if the advisor does not a high aproval rating with the Parliment, and if they Duke wants to reasign him then his decision would probably be vetoed. Yet most of the advisors are of military background, graduating from Brockmann Military Institute, which adds increaing pressure to Parliment in voting to keep these military men in office as advisors. Many of the Members of Parliment are there trying to please the Duke, so whoever the Duke wishes to be an advisor is extremely likely to be elected by Parliment to be an advisor.

Advisor postions include,

  • Defense Advisor, Usually the top military official in the armed forces.
  • Spirituality Advisor, Always been the top Catholic archbiship in the region.
  • Education Advisor, More then likely figure who is well renowned of the Parliment, usually the Duke does not choose this one.
  • Foreign Affairs Advisor, Sometimes it's a top general, but other times it might be a very prominant noble man.
  • Director of Homeland Security Advisor, either a top general, or top police general.

History

EARLY BROCKMANN, REVOLUTION

The first 150 years of rule in Brockmann was a totally innoficiant form of Republic, most of the deligates that were sent to the Continental congress were very liberal, as well as Muslim, and had no sence for money for the military. After 140 years of losing of land and currupt form of government, as many of the liberal deligates that were in the congress, did not allow the conservatives, who were mostly Roman Catholic, to even try to get to the polls. This enraged the mostly all Roman Catholic people, there were liberal police squads sent out to quiet these people by any means necessary. Most of the Conservatives were in hiding, Anthony Brockmann a noble man of Dornst, stood out and began organizing an army to launch on the liberal government. This army was most of the standing army that did not aprove of the government, a military coup'd tat was approved by the conservative party. The battle took place between the two armies on a distant plain.

PRE-BATTLE

Anthony Brockmann was the cheif stratagist at this battle for the rule of Brockmann. He believed that if he could use his calvery to draw the enemy close to his lines, he would then be able to use his artilary to blast the enemy and then come back with the calvery to eleminate the enemy. The commander of the Democratic army of Brockmann was Akmed Mohammad, a divote liberal, noted for being feircly Muslim, and harshly anti-Roman Catholic. The Democratic army massed more then 70,000 soldiers, mostly Muslim, as the government favoured them over the Catholic majority, 5,000 of which were calvery. It seemed as the Democratic army would have just overwhelmed the Republican army. The Republican army massed 40,000 men, all of which were Roman Catholic, this mass of Roman Catholics gained much recognition amoung Catholic states, and as the battled was about to begin, Anthony Brockmann, asked for the blessing of the Pope. The Pope granted a blessing and said "Many brave men in the distant land of Brockmann, are fighting for there religous freedom, many men will likely lose there lives, but their lives will not be lost in vein, Catholicism will not fall to this evil force that has laid waste to soo many innosant Catholic lives."

THE BATTLE

On paper the Democratic army had a huge advantage in man power, but the Republican army had alot more of something that the Democratic army did not. Calvery, of the 40,000 men that the RA had 15,000 were calvery. This would prove to be a huge advantage for the RA. The region where the armies met was the Yorkton Plains, which was renound for the it's vast fields of grain. This flat serface was perfect for the Calvery, and allowed the infuntry to be vulnerable for ingagement. The battle started with a calvery charge from the RA, this enraged General Mohammad, he ordered his infuntry to attack. This attack from the DA infuntry was playing right into Anthony's plan, he then ordered a massive artilary barrage, this blasted the DA's infuntry, a massive loss of live was noted. The remaining demoralized infuntry was then cut down by a RA calvery charge, followed by an infuntry charge that crushed the DA once and for all. Akmed Mohammad ran with his entourage, but was caught by a regiment of angry cavaliers, who laid waste to the afraid, spineless commander, who had murdered soo many innosant, Catholic Brockmann people.

THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE GRAND DUTCHY

After the battle of the Yorkton Plains, and the apparent victor, Republican Army, on it's way towards Dornst. The liberal government fled as fast as possible, with them left the muslim population. When the RA led by it's immortal leader, Anthony Brockmann, entered Dornst to a huge ovation, people were dancing in the street, the Congress building that held the liberal government was burned to the ground that night, people watched as more then 140 years of tyranny, and sadness went up in smoke. The estate of the Brockmann's, was then noted as "The palace of the Duke of Brockmann", also a new building that would hold the new goverment, called "Parliment" was put into plans for construction. This was only the 2nd day of the new government, that night a soldier from the general staff of Anthony Brockmann, went out on the balcony where there had been a crowd waiting for hours to hear from there new leader, and said "THE GRAND DUTCHY OF BROCKMANN HAS BEEN FORMED!!!" The crowd answered with a roaring cheer, this was the beginning of The Grand Dutchy of Brockmann, then Anthony Brockmann became the first Duke of Brockmann.

WORLD WAR I

During World War I the Grand Dutchy of Brockmann was part of the Central Powers. Brockmann forces engaged Russian forces with the Austrian military, as they were a firm supporter of the Austro-Hungarian empire, as well Brockmann was surrounded by the empire. The Grand Dutchy sent approximetly 200,000 men to wage war with the Russians. As the war drew to a close Brockmann wasn't touched in the peace talks of the Verseilles treaty, this allowed Brockmann to continue in it's development.

WORLD WAR II

Around the same time as Hitler's annexation of Austria and the invasion of Czechlosavakia, Brockmann was also consumed by Germany. Compared to most of the occupied nations in europe, Brockmann was allowed to keep it's government in tact, which was pretty much fascist anyways. The Grand Dutchy sent around 400,000 men to accompany the German's in their invasion of the Soviet Union, as there was much hatred for the Soviet Union and their radical communist ideas. All of the 400,000 was at the time the entire Grand Dutchy's Grand Army, which faught with much tenacity, the German High command had the Brockmann soldiers fight in army group south, and were part of the invasion of the Caucasus, but were forced to retreat after the battle of Stalingrad was lost. Most of the men lost their lives in the following Soviet offensive that swept the Germans and the Brockmanns out of Kharkov. This seemed to be the end for the Grand Dutchy in the war. As the Soviet Union continued to move forward towards Berlin, and the Allies entering Austria, Brockmann was caught in a tight spot. They could either surrender to the Soviet's and risk having the Duke removed from power, compared to surrendering to the American's which would mean that the Duke could remain in power. Well considering the Duke feared the well being on his country, as well as the ability of his family still controling Brockmann, David III chose the American's over the Soviet's. The surrender of the Grand Dutchy of Brockmann came just days after German forces in Austria surrendered.
