The Great Sheik Yerbouti's Isles of Buttery Boonswoggles is a massive, economically powerful nation, remarkable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 1.712 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.
It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it is mainly concerned with Defence, although Law & Order and Education are secondary priorities. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 93%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Automobile Manufacturing, Beef-Based Agriculture, and Book Publishing industries.
Inheritance tax has recently been abolished, there has been a series of riots between local cannibals and health food advocates, school uniforms are compulsory, and military spending recently hit a new high. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Buttery Boonswoggles's national animal is the Sparklehorse, which is also the nation's favorite main course.
