The Coalition of the People's Will, known more commonly as the COTPW, was a paramilitary organization created for the sole purpose of overthrowing the Kasnyian monarchy and establishing a new government through all means neccessary, including acts of terrorism, murder, extortion, civil disturbance, and genocide. The organization is most well known around the world for initiating a brief but brutal civil war in Kasnyia.

History

The COTPW was founded immediately after Karl Xavier XIII, the Grand Duke of Kasnyia, had lifted the nation out of it's 400-year-long self-imposed isolation, as a desperate last minute alliance between all the various rebel groups and private militias that had been dead set against the Grand Duke's globalist policies (or merely just the Grand Duke himself). The Organization was the brainchild of Ferdinand Raszler, known better by his nom de guerre, Cardinal Valentin of Jilla, who had once served in the Kasnyian government prior to the opening of her borders.

Just before and during the Vallahalla crisis, the organization had been setting off bombs at various infrastructures all over the nation, not really hurting the government, but trying (and partially succeeding) to annoy the government enough for them to do something drastic. However, after the incident, they tried to use the sitiuation to their benefit by stealing the ship's one surviving missile before it could be disassembled.

Not long after, General Gassel began to organize the military wing of the group into an able fighting force. Five months later, Cardinal Valentin declared war against the Government of Kasnyia, thus starting the Kasnyian Civil War.

During the final months of the war, anxiety, tension, ego, and ambition amongst the three leaders led to a short but bloody power struggle primarily between Gassel and Valentin. By the end of it, the majority of the Order of Jilla had been wiped out, and Cardinal Valentin and his top aides were forced to escape Kasnyia for the middle east, where they are assumed to still be residing, planning revenge.

After the power struggle was over, General Gassel formally ended the COTPW, relegating back to his position as leader of the Topaz Faction, while Van Bein tagged along with his largely untouched Proletariat Magnus.

However, due in part to the power struggle and in part to excellent strategizing on the part of the Ducal loyalists, the Coalition Army had become surrounded and cut off from their few remaining supplies. As his last order to the Coalition, he dissolved the army, promising them revenge when he returned.

Structure

Raszler indexed all the groups who had joined and had restructured them in line with the three largest sub-factions in the COTPW, the Order of Jilla: Raszler's own personality cult restructured into a religious group in the same line as Ganos, the Topaz Faction: a ultra-right wing facist organization headed by General Gassel. and the Proletariat Magnus: Headed up by Kasnyian industrialist, "Chairman" Karl Van Bein (both of the other men would be given equal authority over the organization, though their responsibilities were seperated according to their strengths.

The Order of Jilla would take care of communication (read: propaganda) and finance.

The Topaz Faction would handle all security and (eventually) military matters.

The Proletariat Magnus would be incharge of materials production, eventually including warmachines.

Capabilities

It is believed (from captured documents and analysis of their actions, that the organization had been well financed by foreign backers, whose identity was unknown until the close of the war, when they were revealed by the COTPW due to logistics dispute. Anaylsts conclude that they had a buying power of some 2.1 trillion dollars by the end of the war.

Production capabilities, due to already existing factory complexes, were ven more great, rivaling that of a small country.

However, it is in it's military capabilities that the COTPW had excelled in. With General Gassel's own personality cult, gift of the silver tongue, and the COTPW's money, the organization had been able to gain nearly one million troops, who were reletively well trained. Added with the organizations production capability, they could match the Ducal loyalist forces pound for pound in small conflicts, though they tended to get over-stretched in larger skirmishes.

Leadership

The Organization was originally controlled by the founder, Cardinal Valentin himself. After a few months of wheeling and dealing, the leadership was changed into a triumvirate, led by Valentin, Gassel, and Van Bein.

However, after a fairly bloody power struggle, Valentin was ousted from his own organization and the leadership was made into a partnership between Gassel and Van Bein.

After the civil war, though officially disolved (as far as Van Bein and Gassel were concerned), Colonel Kurt Augersmann, the COTPW's most prestigious field commander, declared himself commander of all remaining forces of the COTPW and seized an armored train that would be used in Operation Pheonix.

Status

Officially, the Coalition of the People's Will was dissovled following the power struggle that ousted Cardinal Valentin by General Gassel. However, many of the assets are still in existance and are either extant in the Kasnyian rural areas (possibly protected by the remnants of the Coalition Army) or taken under the control of the Topaz Faction. There is also a significant portion of the assets and manpower of the COTPW controlled by Augersmann, exclusively for his Operation.

The organization is considered a terrorist group in most of the world's nations.
